Beilein got his first road win tonight, and it came against Moe Wagner's Wizards team.  In the post-game interview linked above (towards the very end, ~3:30), Beilein talks about coaching against Moe and being on the other side of his trash talking.  Will always love both of those guys.

Awkward hearing him mention his players as 'kids' only to quickly correct himself to say 'guys'. I'm really worried it'll be hard to remove the 'college' from Beilein.

Honestly I know I'm supposed to feel good for him, but I hate seeing that he left us for a professional team that is terrible and will never contend.

“Never” is a very long horizon.  Beilein already has the team playing better, and they have won more games, than anyone reasonably expected.  They obviously need to add talent, but have some good pieces and with guys who buy into his system and play together, they well may contend in 2021-22 or so.  Of course, they will need to get lucky and draft a Giannis or LeBron or the like to advance very far in the playoffs, because all the big names want to play in the big or warm markets.  In that regard, the Cavs are no different than Detroit, Indiana, Milwaukee, OKC, etc.

There's a lot of support for Beilein in Cleveland right now. He seems to have gotten the veterans (Love and Thompson) to buy into the system he wants and to get them to understand it's a long term rebuild effort that they have important leadership roles in. Getting support from NBA vets is no small task for NBA coaches, let alone ones with no coaching experience at that level. They are also playing better than I think most people expected, and already have 3 wins on the year.

I wish Beilein were still around too, but I don't know how anyone could blame him for leaving to follow a dream, as well as not having to deal with NCAA BS & corruption, which he clearly never took part in, NBA early entries, etc. He turned the program around here and left it in good hands. I feel like everyone should be happy with how things ended up.

I feel pretty much the same way as I do about players that leave Michigan or recruits that go elsewhere.   I’m not hoping for Beilein to fail, but I’m also not hoping for him to be successful.   I no longer have a rooting interest in him.

Every UM fan rooting against Coach B in anything other than a Pistons game is a pathetic loser. He's the biggest class act in the league and will always be an incredible coach and developer of talent. He went above and beyond for Michigan in his time here, and that's not enough for some simple loyalty and appreciation from you losers. For Pete's sakes, you complain about never having nice things...
