Bagel Fragel has reopened at a new location on Washtenaw, near Arborland. Was just wondering if anyone’s been to the resurrected shop?

The Bagel Factory pioneered the “Fragel”.  Still open in Southfield at 12 & Telegraph.  Their store in Ann Arbor on South U (next to Village Corners) closed when the block turned into a high rise 10 years ago (or so).

They've been open for a week now. South side of Washtenaw, across the street from Arborland. The same two ladies I remember from the Plymouth Road location. Lots of flavors of bagels with various additions available. And those warm, soft, sweet, delectable fragels! Mmmmmmm.

Yes, I went last week during the soft open. And the fragels (and egg-bagel sandwiches) were fantastic as expected. The old location on Plymouth Rd was on my way to work and very convenient--perfect for grabbing a dozen fragels for work meetings--but the new location sucks. The traffic is bad there on Washtenaw and there isn't much standing room inside. Still, it's great to have them back and open again.

I sure remember Fragels.  I worked at the Bagel Factory on South U for a bit in the early 80s. I worked in the production room during the weekdays, we made something like 50,000 bagels each week.  On Wednesday evenings and Saturdays I would drive the freezer truck to the East Lansing location to drop off racks of frozen bagels, and on Saturday I would continue on to a unaffiliated location on Rocklin to drop off more.

It was a fun place to work, and I made lots of friends there.  It was one of the best jobs I had in Ann Arbor during my time figuring out how not to finish school and then be forced into getting a real job.
