OT: Bagel Fragel reopens
Bagel Fragel has reopened at a new location on Washtenaw, near Arborland. Was just wondering if anyone’s been to the resurrected shop?

No, but sure loved it years ago!

I probably gained 5 pounds eating fragels. Damn they were good. I should sue those bastards.

I thought they were non-fat?

Dudes, they had fragels back in my day, which was the mid-80's. That's called staying power.

They had fragels back in my day, which was the early 1970s. That's called a shitload of unhealthy carbs I ate back then.

FRAGELS ARE BACK?!!!!! Why is this not on the main page? I feel like I need to make a pilgrimage.

I used to mow on Fragels when I was in undergrad. Mmmmmmmmmm.

The Fragel is back??? I remember the glory days when they were on South U and I'd stop in on the way back from class. I'm definitely going out there asap to try it out.

The Bagel Factory pioneered the “Fragel”. Still open in Southfield at 12 & Telegraph. Their store in Ann Arbor on South U (next to Village Corners) closed when the block turned into a high rise 10 years ago (or so).

I hope someone gets a Waffle Flake going in AA soon too!

They've been open for a week now. South side of Washtenaw, across the street from Arborland. The same two ladies I remember from the Plymouth Road location. Lots of flavors of bagels with various additions available. And those warm, soft, sweet, delectable fragels! Mmmmmmm.

Yes, I went last week during the soft open. And the fragels (and egg-bagel sandwiches) were fantastic as expected. The old location on Plymouth Rd was on my way to work and very convenient--perfect for grabbing a dozen fragels for work meetings--but the new location sucks. The traffic is bad there on Washtenaw and there isn't much standing room inside. Still, it's great to have them back and open again.

I sure remember Fragels. I worked at the Bagel Factory on South U for a bit in the early 80s. I worked in the production room during the weekdays, we made something like 50,000 bagels each week. On Wednesday evenings and Saturdays I would drive the freezer truck to the East Lansing location to drop off racks of frozen bagels, and on Saturday I would continue on to a unaffiliated location on Rocklin to drop off more.
It was a fun place to work, and I made lots of friends there. It was one of the best jobs I had in Ann Arbor during my time figuring out how not to finish school and then be forced into getting a real job.
