OT: ASU signs sick child to National Letter of Intent
ASU Baseball has signed a National Letter of Intent with 10 year old Thad Earle, who suffers from fibromatosis, a debilitating disease. What a nice beautiful gesture. Love it when schools do this for kids and their parents. We need more of these type of news stories.
And then there is this link to Michigan:
"Thad attacks each day with enthusiasm."
Wonder where their coach ever got that quote?

That is awesome. College sports can actually be more than just dueling fools.

Call me a cynic...but the same day their beleaguered, scandal-ridden AD steps down?

Yep, you figured it out. Their President said "go out and find me a sick child, get him to join Team Impact, bring him to campus, offer him a letter of intent, take a pic and then farm out the story to national news media", all in one day, just to balance out the news of the AD leaving.
You're a cynic. WTF is wrong with you?

OK, you're a cynic.
Even if this was some massively orchestrated PR ploy, and it somehow worked, it doesn't take anything away from the kid. He gets to enjoy a special moment.

Best story I've read for a while. Thank you for posting. I hope he got an NIL deal!

Seriously, a NIL deal for those medical bills we would be an even better gesture.

No doubt. The fact that getting sick in the richest country in the history of the world can bankrupt people is one of the great shames I will never understand.

I saw a USC story I saw about a kid with eye cancer who was a big fan beginning in the Pete Carroll days. He eventually lost both eyes at 12 y.o., and Sark later signed him as a walk-on long snapper after doing it 2 yrs in high school. He put him into a game for a PAT.
Cameo by John Baxter, former UM Spec. Teams coach who later went to USC.

After these last couple weeks I didn't realize how much I needed these stories. That's pretty awesome.

Bunch of classy Devils, that's what you are.
Well done, ASU.
