OT - AAAAARGH. Osgood
Two goals on 4 shots against. Not like the Wings need to start playing like a team or anything. And not like Osgood needs to realize that he needs to wake up BEFORE the game starts. I didn't even have time to turn the TV on and he'd already been scored on.
I've been an Ozzie supporter, but tonight has been ridiculous.

And to add a little salt, Samuelsson got the helper on the first goal 30 seconds in.

It doesn't bother me if Sammy scores. Would prefer him not to against the wings, but there was no way the Wings were going to pay him anywhere near the 2.5M he's making. At least before Huds left. After? Maybe.
But this complete disinterest in playing during at least one period of each game is what gets me. It's what they did last year. It looks like they stand around for a while either waiting to go into a hole they might dig themselves out of, or they get up then turn off in the third and end up losing.

Well - I'm OK with Osgood playing poorly tonight - other than that, hope he turns it around!

At least he's stopping shots. He's looked a little uncomfortable at times, but he's got better than .50 save percentage.

The time to worry about the Wings is early April. Over half the league makes the playoffs. Plenty of time to right the ship.

plus it's hockey, so you don't even have to be in the top 50% in the conference to make the playoffs. And all you need to do these days is get in the playoffs.

The Wings have looked terrible thus far this year and the goaltending has been worse. Lots of time left in the season though. Lets hope we can pull this win out tonight versus the Canucks tho. 3-2 right now.

4 goal rally in the 3rd. Howard put on a very respectable performance- looked better than most of his starts. A badly needed win for the Wings.

He did look good, especially in the last minutes. Can't blame him at all for a 5 on 3 goal. Hope he proves himself this season so he can stay out of Grand Rapids.

Even his only other goal against was maybe on Stuart? who crossed the front of the net just as the puck was shot. But it sure looked stoppable from the feed I was watching.
But yeah, can't blame him for the 5-3. A .909 SP with a 5-3 goal is pretty damn good.

Osgood's career has been an overachievement due largely to the caliber of players surrounding him during his time in Detroit. He is, in my opinion a better than average goalie, but nothing more. Of course he has had his moments and streaks where he has looked outstanding, but I've never been convinced that he is great.
