Ohtani vs The Tigers

Submitted by HelloHeisman91 on

Shohei Ohtani, the Japanese player that pitches and hits, is taking the hill vs the Tigers tonight.  He doesn't hit in games that he is pitching but it should be fun to watch him hitting 100 on the gun.

Score tied at 1-1 at the end of 3.  Just saw Ohtani get Victor Martinez to pop out.  Impressive ball placement and ball movement.  I have never seen anyone pitch that way (until now).

Wasn't even sharp tonight.

He couldn't command his fast ball.  He was coming off a 10 day lay off.

But that's how good his stuff is.  He can be off and still only give up 1 run in 5IP.

In other news, Alex Reyes wasn't very sharp either.

for Shane Greene. Tigers win 6-1. No doubt Ohtani didn't have his best stuff tonight, struggling with his command much of the evening, and yet I'm impressed---with sharper command of the strike zone, he's going to be hard to beat most days. This time around, though, the Tigers battled and took advantage of walks and with timely hitting, found enough offense to win after getting Ohtani's pitch count up and then feasting on the Angels bullpen in the 6th. It was their good fortune, though, to catch Ohtani on an off night this evening.
