Notre Dame still Meyer's "dream" job.....

Submitted by Nickel on
I don't know if anyone else saw this today or not, but Urban Meyer reiterated that Notre Dame is his dream job. http://www.floridatoday.com/article/20081120/COLUMNISTS0306/811200343/1… He says the reason he didn't take the job the first time around was because Florida gave him the opportunity to recruit locally and still be home with his family as opposed to the time he'd spend in airports and hotels recruiting nationally for ND. His kids are now 18, 15 and 10 so most of them will be out of the house within the next few years. Brian Kelly at ND would scare me. Urban Meyer at ND would terrify me.

Scarey, and, to think he would've loved to have coached Michigan, too. If only Lloyd would've retired a couple of years earlier....

let us all pray that weis improves, although still mediocre 8-4, maybe 9-3 so not bad enough to get canned for a few more years. and lets also pull for florida winning the NC in hopes that they then sign urban to some absurd 10 year extension worth gazillions (wait, who would do that?). And during all of this RR builds an empire and we crush ND and stake a claim on all the top spread offense talent throughout the country. so even if urban does goto ND we'll be established and balling absurdly. there, that was easy.

It's hard for me to imagine him walking out on a place like Florida, which has such a natural recruiting advantage, to endure the challenges of rebuilding Notre Dame--the transition would likely be as difficult as our as far as scheme change. It is interesting, though, that the author of his biography says he can't see Urban staying at UF past the remainder of his contract. Definitely would not like it if he were the coach of ND.

you understand how easy it is to recruit to notre dame. i'm not gonna say that dumb thing i said last time, but ND is just ND. no matter what kids wanna go there. plus ND has A LOT of talent on its roster. weis can't coach worth shit but he's stockpiled a lot of players. if they ever get a good coach you'll see what i mean.

I would love for him to be the coach at ND. Outside of the fact that their fans will be annoying as can be, think of how sweet a victory then will be. Also, think of the possible magnitude each meeting will have. It has the potential to be the game of the week every year we play, and also think of how well it can position us for the NC game come time for the annual BCS beauty pageant. In terms of recruiting, I do not think it will be much more different than it is now, but correct me if I am wrong. The one thing fatass shown he can do is recruit well so I don't know how much better Meyer will recruit at ND.

what Lloyd's team did to Meyer last year. Meyer is a great coach, but, believe it or not, so is Rich Rodriguez. I, for one, would hope our staff and players would welcome the challenge of playing and beating a great coach.

He might say this, but when push comes to shove, he won't leave Florida. At least, not for another college job (he might try his hand at the pros).
