Per NFL.com, NFL Draft to Proceed as Scheduled

Figure we can all use a break from the Coronavirus updates, so I come bearing good sports-related news. The NFL has confirmed the draft will proceed next month as scheduled. No public events, but it will still be a very welcome distraction. I have to believe the TV ratings for the first round are going to be far and away the highest they've ever been. People will be starved for sports of any kind, and the first night of the draft is always a huge event anyway.

Maybe we can also use this as an open NFL Free Agency Thread. Anyone have any thoughts as to where Brady will end up? What about Rivers or Bridgewater, or non QBs like Austin Hooper and Jadeveon Clowney?

Come on, friends. Let's talk some footbawl!

I don't have it right in front of me right now, but I read somewhere earlier today that it's now down to either New England or Tampa Bay for Tom Terrific.

Tennessee overpaid Ryan Tannehill over the weekend, San Fran apparently indicated early today that they're staying with Jimmy Garrapalo, and supposedly the Raiders and Chargers are no longer in the hunt, either.

I don't expect the GOAT to leave the Patriots at this point.

If Brady can get some kind of commitment from NE to go out and get guys he can actually throw to, like picking up Austin Hooper in FA and/or moving up to grab one of the top WRs in the draft, then I'd see him staying put. The only clear advantage Tampa has is that it will have far better, more proven weapons to offer Brady than anything NE can put together in one offseason. Evans, Godwin and OJ Howard are a much more deadly trio than anything NE could have on its roster by Week 1.

But its still Tampa. A losing franchise that's been playing in front of half-full stadiums loaded with opposing fans for nearly a decade. Also have to figure that instead of going against Josh Allen, Sam Darnold and whoever the hell Miami trots out there next year, you're going against Cam Newton (for now), Matt Ryan and Drew Brees. All former NFL MVPs who have either led their team to Super Bowls, or flat-out won one. I don't know that Brady is willing to commit to something like that at the tail end of his career.

If you get a commitment from Belichek and Kraft to go solely after skill players in FA and in the early rounds of the draft, I take my chances against a comparatively far weaker AFC East.

Obviously the Lions let Glasgow walk, Broncos signed him for 4/44. Lions then signed OT Halapoulivaati Vaitai from the Eagles for 5/50.
