Bouje treads about as gracefully as a yak on skates, but to be fair:
I don't think that the number of Rhodes Scholars churned out by FSU means it's a great school. They have clearly decided to put a lot of institutional resources on getting those shiny prizes, but it's not a terrific school overall.
That's not to say that Mr. Rolle made a poor decision - he, like FSU, had a singular goal in re: attaining a Rhodes Scholarship, and it was a perfect fit for him. From everything I've read, he is one impressive mofo ... the only thing I have against him is that, like other obscenely high-acheiving people, he kinda makes me feel lame.
I don't think he (Bouje, not Myron) deserves quite this many negative posts, and I'm certain there are people who were wantonly taking points away on every single post just because it was the thing to do. Bouje's cardinal sin appears to be losing his shit once people jump on him, but his early posts were not all that egregious.
/preparing for the onslaught
1. No one's claiming FSU is a great school. They are pointing out it's an above average school (or average, by USNWR) that was dedicated to helping Rolle achieve his goals. And he did, which, to me, makes it the perfect fit for Rolle.
2. It's like when you were a kid and you mom kept adding days to your being grounded since you couldn't shut up and just take the initial punishment. Then, once you stopped and started serving the punishment, the sentence was commuted. He'll get his points back once he proves he can be reasonable.
There's just an unappealing trend wherein, once people see the beginning of one of these epic beatdowns, they run around and downgrade his posts just because everyone else is doing it. Or maybe they just want to see how low his point total can get. Either way, I think -480 points or whatever is rather excessive for what the Boujer actually did here.
I hit the down arrow on quite a few posts because I think his debate skills - picking FSU was like driving drunk and making it home!! - are terrible and deserved it. But yeah, the piling on is kinda crazy.
At the same time, reaping sowing shit like that and on and so forth QED.
