New 2020 WR/DB offer
Michigan does not appear to be finished with 2020 recruiting. They've been standing pat on offers for a while after all the signings back in December, but Tennessee product Chayce Bishop reported an offer today. He's a 3-star, the #84 athlete, and #1215 overall. He's also the son of former Tennessee Titans (and Ball State) safety Blaine Bishop.

Weird.

This offer will give Maizen an aneurysm

Good?

Ran the 200M in 23.66 in 2018 at a track meet. That sounds fast to me but I’m not all that familiar with high school track times.

Yeah that’s fast

user name checking out....

No it’s not that fast. I ran a 22.5 in high school as pasty, lanky runner who should have been doing the 800 & 1600.
Zach Harrison as a 250 lb serious ran it in 21.xx. Now that’s fast.

I agree that's not fast at all. I went a class D school in Michigan (ran the 200m) and that time wouldn't have made it out of the region.

It's ok, not blazing fast. College track teams won't be offering him unless he has improved a lot.
January 27th, 2020 at 8:26 PM ^
He wouldn't be able to qualify for high school state finals in Michigan.

I think the U.S. High School record for the 200 is 20.09. The Michigan High School record for the 200 is 21.20.

Not really that fast. State championship level sprinters are probably low 22 or sub 22, national level are mid 21, and truly elite might break 21. But if that time is from 2018, which would be his sophomore year, he’s likely improved considerably since then.

Not close to elite speed. I know high school track and field. 23.66 is good for someone who has absolutely no plans on being a skill guy in D1 football. You need to drop at least two seconds off at to have any chance at a state championship.

I'm good with a couple of flyers each recruiting class - Ronnie Bell worked out, same for Runyan
January 27th, 2020 at 8:22 PM ^
I'd say Harbuagh's projects have hit more than the 5 star's
January 27th, 2020 at 8:28 PM ^
well hes signed more projects than 5 stars so thats not surprising.
as long as they can play though...
January 27th, 2020 at 8:27 PM ^
I don’t mind taking a chance on the bloodline occasionally. Runyan and Hutchinson have done nothing but improve since the days when we first saw them. That Devin Bush guy worked out ok too.
January 27th, 2020 at 9:32 PM ^
Hutch and Bush would have been offered regardless of their bloodline. Runyan was given an offer super early, and turned out to be a gem.
Defensive backs though have to be one of the position groups who most accurately play to their rankings

Now all we need is a Harmon, a Howard and a Woodson
January 27th, 2020 at 8:54 PM ^
Unless they feel good about Pogorelc, they should be offering more OL.
January 27th, 2020 at 9:58 PM ^
How about a flyer on a 3 star DT? Willie Henry was a guy like that and he made it to the NFL.
January 27th, 2020 at 10:21 PM ^
Or a player who is not a flyer like Ohio State gets.

What’s our scholarship situation? More attrition on the way?
January 28th, 2020 at 10:18 AM ^
Yes, there is more attrition on the way. Right now we're at 85 with the public scholarship situation, so we need people to leave in order to get the transfers people want, to take another 2020 player, etc.

It'll be interesting to see how all these tweeners work out.

I can't make threads, so dropping this here. Anyone know what the story was with recent transfer portal add from Penn State, 4-star DT Ellison Jordan?
Apparently, he had a promising early redshirt freshman & sophomore seasons but struggled with injuries and ultimately wound up off the roster in 2019.
Looks worth kicking the tires on, but I'm not sure if he had some other baggage that we might not want around.
