NCAA Selection Committee

Ohio State's AD is one of ten members. You think as a bubble team we're in? Think again.

The tournament bids are more important in bulk for conferences. He'll go to bat for any Big 10 team if he gets the floor. He's a professional, not some two-bit, partisan fan. If you want to be concerned about bias, focus on the SEC Comissioner being the comittee chair. This is the weakest the SEC has looked in year. Will having their comish in such a plush position help sway 3/4 bids into 5/6 bids? That's a more legit concern, IMO.

I recall from various interviews that are done after the field is announced (in years past) that members recuse themselves from discussions involving teams from the conference they are affiliated with. I may be remembering incorrectly, however.

I know conference commissioners aren't allowed to be involved in the discussions for anyone from their conference. I don't remember if ADs only have to recuse themselves from discussions on their team or the entire conference, but I think it's the conference.

OSU people always allow their hatred of all things Michigan to overrule all other considerations. UM's arduous trek to the NCAA Tournament has just become somewhat tougher.

OSU athletic directors are not in the same category as OSU Rivals board posters. It's in OSU's best interest that Michigan be in the tournaments so I'd imagine this guy would campaign for us.

He's not going to let a rivalry come between him and the job he was appointed to do. I would expect any Michigan AD to give the Buckeyes a fair shake in a selection process and I believe Mr. Smith will give the Wolverines the same.
