So they can beat a 5 and have it plastered all over ESPN and CBS as one of their favorite and oldest cliches: the 12/5 upset.
Somebody is going to have to shoot from outside to free up Sims and Harris, though. Illinois figured out that it is probably better for UM opponents to neurtralize Sims and Harris by whatever means neccessary and force someone else to beat them.
I hope they get a game with refs who call tight and reward finesse over bulk, though.
I would guess 11. I've got to believe 9 and 10 are probably out of reach at this point.
Somebody just emailed me and said that Digger Phelps thinks we're out of the tournament with the loss to Illinois. I seriously doubt that UNLESS Penn St. somehow makes it to the conference championship game. If that happens, then I think we could be back on the bubble.
Ahhhh Fuck him, fuck that Notre Dame lover right in the ear.
Somebody needs to humble Digger the "old country way."
Sincerely,
The Iron Sheik
Has been rowing against us all season.
Does he still think Providence College should get to go? I've been waiting all season for him to actually take a look at their league schedule.
Nevertheless, I dont think its that outlandish of a thought. There's still a lot going on tonight that could take a leg or two or three out from underneath the pecking order of final bids.
You can rely on some team's fans and players to be outraged and anguished over the decision of the selection committee to omit their team. Michigan could have nailed their spot down with a victory, but they reverted to their horrid, worst-in-the-B10 shooting ways at an inopportune time. They're probably still in, but I wouldn't bet a ton of money on it.
Got all 65 selections right last year!
