NCAA Football '22 Ratings + Updated Depth Chart

For one of our fellow posters...I'll take a crack at it.

And as I mentioned in the other thread, people will undoubtedly get mad because the bench is too good.  A reminder for the youngins who never really grew up on NCAA...the ratings system was ALWAYS too condensed. If you had a player below 73 at a school like Michigan...you may as well cut him. It was way too easy to recruit over those guys.

Years later, Madden finally "stretched" it's ratings to make it more realistic, but NCAA never got to that point.

Low 3* = 72, 3* = 74, High 3* = 75, 4* = 76-79, 5* = 80-84.

Now I'll put a guy like Will Johnson (or JJ last year) as an 84, because they were early enrollees...something NCAA never had. So if Will Johnson was an 82 or 83 when he showed up...by all accounts, he's better today. With that in mind, not my best work, but I've given it a fair go. Without NCAA, I don't have nearly the feel for what the national landscape looks like, so in my head I'm saying things like "okay, Henderson at OSU is probably a 96, Corum should he a 93." That, and just basing it off experience from previous years.

Overall, we have a first unit that can play with anyone in the country. Our depth is very "solid B1G team," good enough to win the league, but it's not at a CFP level (except WR).

BRING BACK THE GAME! (sooner)

Fortunately, for the pertinent persons and groups involved it looks as though there is going to be some clarity shown upon this matter within the next several weeks. The players and the coaches will soon have the scene play out right before their very own eyes-in real time.

The fans will be the fans. I, one of the fans, believe that in due time JJ will not be an 87-he is very likely a 97...at worst. And the real, wowing hilarity with this is that I am somehow a bad person for thinking this is so. Folks, it is okay to be very gifted-and demonstrating it.

Video games aside, our 'depth' is undeniably one of the absolute strengths of the team. Which position/s are we thin at? One? Linebacker, perhaps?

On no planet are we "solid BIG team" in terms of total roster depth.

I'd say we are stacked.

Depth issues at other positions are mostly about lack of proven experience not necessarily lack of talent. DB gets thin on proven talent if one of the starters goes down. The whole d-line is think on proven backups. O-line could probably lose two guys before we get into the untested range. That said, there’s loads of talent at most positions, just not maybe Bama level talent and lots of inexperience

I have been rating players since NFL GameDay '98, no big deal, and I think receivers aside, just about every player rated between 82-89 should be slid back a point or two.

Seems reasonable. Only thought I have is that Hayes is way too high. And honestly I thought the rating of 4 (out of 5) that they gave him in the tackle preview was generous too

Apparently Dominick Guidice is going to be getting more playing time than the fans and the media realize. But I think more than zero playing time is more than fans and media realize.
