NCAA Assistant Coach Salary Chart Released

Submitted by Yo_Blue on

The NCAA Assistant Coach salary chart has been released by USA Today.  Their charts are always interesting and one of the more valuable things they bring to the table.

Durkin and Drevno were 2 and 3 in the B1G behind the OC at Maryland.  The Terps didn't get their monies worth with that hire, but Saban thought enough of the guy to hire him as Offensive Analyst (whatever that is).

Northwestern is not included in the survey (private school) of course, but for some reason Penn State is not included. I would assume they are upper tier B1G in terms of pay.

It would behoove an assistant to get any sort of Power 5 position rather than a MAC-level job. The coordinators in the MAC, C-USA, etc. would be among the lowest in the B1G.

Will Muschamp was the highest paid assistant before getting the S Carolina HC position.

The SEC, as expected, pay the highest (I expect their players are paid at a similar level) but the B1G falls second.

Head Coach salary chart has been out for a while HERE.  Harbuagh is #2 behind Saban and ahead of Meyer.  They do list Franklin's salary, so PSU isn't totally under the radar.

but I'm gonna do it anyways..... I feel like a gif from Obama dropping the mic at his last Dinner of Correspondent's Speech could be an amazing gif with the subtitles, "OBAMA OUT". Maybe that is too political, but anyone who watched that speech should be able to drop their political beliefs to realize how hilarious that guy can be when he wants to be

P.S.- You do an amazing job with the gifs and are much appreciated by this reader of comments

PSU has weird laws as a commonwealth.. the school doesn't have to provide info about certain things. We all know how this has gone for them.

Penn State is a "state-related" university, part of Pennsylvania's Commonwealth System of Higher Education. As such, although it receives funding from the Commonwealth and is connected to the state through its board of trustees, it is otherwise independent and not subject to the state's direct control.

Ironically, I'm pretty sure even as such, they receive more state funding than UM.

I assume Muschamp will be getting slightly north of $1.6 million at South Carolina to get a quick field goal and then run down the clock for 55 minutes, but interesting all the same that four of the first five by salary are defensive coordinators, as well as six of the nine being paid north of $1 million.

It looks like Michigan is eighth overall in total staff pay, however, and 1st in the Big Ten in that same category right in front of Ohio State.
