NBA Summer League Roundup

This is more or less a thinly veiled request for information on Deshawn Sims.

Yesterday he tweeted this:

Deshawn Sims @Peedi3416

Headed Too Vegas. Time Too work ! http://instagr.am/p/NEhHLETRGS/

And today he tweeted this:

Did the knicks or suns pick him up? Dylan doesn't have anything about it up on umhoops...?

In other news...Manny Harris is collecting "DNP Coach's Decision" from the Houston Rockets.  Think he has got two so far.

Darius looked a little nervous in his first start with the Lakers on Friday, but he finished with 11 points on 11 shots in 26 minutes.  The lakers summer league team...how to put this nicely...They're not very good.

Darius took things into his own hands on Saturday against the Kings, scoring 17 on 15 shots in 24 minutes.

Even Courtney Sims saw some action for the Grizzlies on Saturday, scoring 4 on 5 shots in 15 minutes.

So if anyone has any news on D. Sims please pass it along...

DeShawn Sims is on the Phoenix Suns' Summer League roster. Bright Side of the Sun posted a rundown of the Suns' Summer League team and included this about Sims:

  • DeShawn Sims, PF, Michigan - Sims is a 24 year old 6'8" 230lb PF formerly of the University of Michigan. Sims averaged 16 pts and 7.6 rbs per 32 min as a senior with Michigan. After going undrafted in 2010, Sims played for the D-league in 2011 averaging 20 pts and 7.7 rbs per 36 min. Sims is limited by his lack of a jump shot and is really only affective around the rim. But he is a strong athletic player who rebounds well and could give the Summer League team an inside presence when resting Morris.

History is on Deshawn Sims' side.  He was selected to be NBDL rookie of the year in 2010, and of the NBDL rookies of the year, 9 of the 11 have played in the NBA for at least a stint.  Some have made pretty nice careers out of it (Will Bynum, Louis Amundson, Alonzo Gee, Devin Brown).

I say this year Sims gets his shot.
