MY opinion on why UM will be much improved

Submitted by MichiganMan_24_ on

I know everyone has said their opinions but i felt like giving mine..1st the simple fact that everyone should know what to expect coming into camps and games now in year 3..even last season i felt like we had kids who were unsure of themselves and didnt look comfortable.

The Oline..alot has been said of the depth..to me this unit now has the athletic ability to run a spread offense..with guys like Omameh and Lewan it gives us the agility to have blockers on the move..something that our spread scheme has lacked IMO.

Experience at QB..its only 1 year but thats 1 year more than we have had the last 2 seasons..i think having a player in the most important position who can now make faster decisions and understanding of why we are doing what we are doing will be noticed by fans very early after kickoff..this scheme relies heavy on QB decision making.

2nd year in a defensive system..trust is a huge thing on defense..being in a system you are new to makes you do things you should not do...my example is when your in a new system with a new coach you are time pressed to learn so you learn YOUR position..and in this players tend to watch the ball and run to it ... but when you have experience with a coach and his plans you pick up on the guys around you and THEIR responsibility..and so you learn to force ball carriers to where you know your help will be ... i think this will also be noticed

and my last reason is i could not help but notice Mike Cox seems bigger and IMO he will be hitting the hole harder this year ... another thing that seemed to be lacking last year after i seen BMinor constantly injured.

"cox hitting the hole harder"

Now just imangine if Beaver didn't decommit and was the guy at qb.

We would get such epic calls of "beaver to cox....touchdown" "cox explodes from beaver"

alright I'll let it go opportunity lost tho

a little more Forcier, and Cox will get through Ezeh!  If Cox doesn't make it, use Johnson.  Either way it will feel like Emillien!

Jeez I am one sick bastard (but for the record, I could have worked Gallon into the story too, eventually).

My heart jumped with joy at the thread title.  I appreciate the OP going through the trouble of writing this, but my head just may asplode if we get one more of these.

I think one of the other big keys will be to avoid the injury bug on defense. We already lost Troy and if anyone else goes down I think we will be in big trouble. Really impressed with all of the CTK videos and how the players are all seemingly getting it. Hope Rich can get them all to play with a chip on their shoulders lord knows if they have a bulletin board in the locker room that thing is full.

I'm intrigued as to how we'll look on offense.  As long as Denard throws to Michigan receivers and not the other guys like last year, this could be fun.

As far as defense, I'm still holding my breath.  Another year in the system helps but I wish I felt better about this.  I simply can't take another year of watching our opponents face a 3rd and 20 and then throw a 45 yard completion with ease.

I live in the heart of LSU country and have bet five friends a case of beer on the UCONN game. They think we are going to get spanked. I am very confident that I will not have to buy beer for a couple weeks. And just so you all know I listen to local sports talk all the time and they have Les on quite often, man am I glad he is not our coach.

what it is you're hearing on the radio from Miles that prompts that intriguing comment.  Is it what he says or how he says it?  Thanks for any insight.

EDIT:  This was to be a query for NolaMaize.  How'd it get way down here?
