MSU Opts Out of Bowl Games
Should Michigan do the same ?

I think we should announce that we're self-imposing a one-year bowl ban as advance punishment for any violation we might happen to commit in the future.

Chess not checkers

Here's a better idea. Drive a truck load of cash to a couple of All American defensive tackles, get them to transfer, then self impose the bowl ban.

MeL Tucker had only 5 losses for the least losses in his head coaching career.

*fewest ?

Stannis Baratheon approves!

Save face move. The extra weeks of practice wasn’t going to help them anyway.
December 20th, 2020 at 7:46 PM ^
That’s the Michigan way right there. Team sucks and practice won’t help anyway.

I favor watching my favorite team one more time, but I do not see any opening here

I believe Michigan already opted out. Season was over after that MSU debacle.
December 20th, 2020 at 8:15 PM ^
Agree, it seems that the team gave up after the sparty debacle.....

No kidding. Harbaugh chickenshits out of multiple games but we have a thread about MSU not wanting to play a bowl game after a losing season.
December 20th, 2020 at 6:21 PM ^
I'm opting out.
December 20th, 2020 at 6:22 PM ^
Looks like we're not playing either... https://247sports.com/college/michigan/Article/Michigan-football-officially-not-playing-bowl-game-2020-season-over-157446700/

We could use the practice
December 20th, 2020 at 6:43 PM ^
I tend to agree but would take a player vote. Won’t be the classic bowl week as teams are limited to flying-in day before and back home that night. Basically an away game schedule, albeit the bag of bowl game swag.
December 20th, 2020 at 7:43 PM ^
We don't need practice. We need a complete reset.
December 20th, 2020 at 6:39 PM ^
Should we do the same?
Do we really want to see this team play in a bowl game?
December 20th, 2020 at 6:46 PM ^
Unfortunately this is probably one covid trend that is not going to go away. I wouldn’t be surprised to see teams opt out in the covid free future.
December 20th, 2020 at 7:49 PM ^
Unfortunate? There are way too many bowl games. More embarrassing to play in the Duke's Mayo Bowl than to skip in my opinion.

Let the kids go home. It's been a brutal and uncertain year for everyone - let them get some family time if they wish.
No reason to play any bowls besides the playoffs except for networks, universities, conferences, etc to milk some $ out of the system.
For CFB players leaving early for the league, their draft status is pretty much cemented already, and there is the Senior Bowl for the older guys still looking to impress. After the craziness of 2020 and the Covid season, bowl games feel really foolish and selfish.
December 20th, 2020 at 7:20 PM ^
Fuck this season and the cfb... ND has no business in the cfp.
December 20th, 2020 at 7:39 PM ^
But watching Bama shred them will be a reason to tune in!
December 20th, 2020 at 7:22 PM ^
These guys have been in lockdown away from family and friends for weeks keeping them “safe”. Therefore, it’s time to go home.
December 20th, 2020 at 7:32 PM ^
Staee actually thought some bowl would invite them?
BWA-HA-HA-HA!!!!
December 20th, 2020 at 7:55 PM ^
Well, they've opted out of ethical behaviour, opted out of solid governance and opted out of accountability.
Why not bowl games?
December 20th, 2020 at 9:19 PM ^
They don’t care. They got everything they wanted out of this season after embarrassing Michigan.
December 21st, 2020 at 3:03 AM ^
Was thinking the same thing; unfortunately, they already won their bowl game.
December 20th, 2020 at 9:31 PM ^
Did spartie also opt out of their basketball game @Northwestern this evening?
I tuned in for most of the 2nd half and it appeared they never showed up, losing to the Wildcats for the first time in almost 10 years. Final score 79-65.
