MMB / Sept 10 nite game
What changes for the Step Show and the band's show performance with the first-ever night game? Times, etc? Part of our pregame ritual is the StepShow and coming back to the stadium with the MMB - can you MMB dudes give us some benchmarks for timing and anything else different planned for the nite game we need to be aware of from the band's perspective?

Rehearsal that day is from 3:00-5:00. This much I know. I assume some current MMB folks will reply at some point, but they're in Band Week this week which means 13-hour days.

Late in the day and early evening, I can hear the band practicing—especially the percussion— and I live a couple of miles away on the west side of town. It's one of the welcome sounds of the approaching fall.

I remember hearing the band practicing from my dorm room window in South Quad at like 6am in the morning. I remember not being annoyed at all, which is saying a lot coming from me.

Step show usually begins around 10 or 10:30AM for a 12noon kick-off, I think, so it will probably be around 6 or 6:30PM for an 8PM kick-off.

On a related note, I think today or tomorrow they get to go perform for the team. I'm excited to hear the staff's response to having that experience for the first time, especially Hoke's.

What and where is the Step Show. Have always come in from out of town and have not had the chance to catch much pre-game activities. This year plan on parking at noon and taking in the whole experience.

What = Michigan Marching Band Drumline warming up by performing the cadence, assorted warm up routines, then finishing with Temptation and Hawaiian War Chant. Where = steps of Revelli Hall on Hoover St.

It's the first real event of game day. The drumline comes out to perform in front of Revelli Hall on Hoover Street and Division, and they do most of their routines and cadences. This is followed by the whole band coming out for inspection, and when they step off for the stadium you know without a doubt that game day has begun.
IMHO, there is no better time or way to go to the stadium than with the band from the steps of Revelli Hall. You're in the stadium in time to see the last bit of warmups, and you get to see all of the pregame pageantry.

waking up to hear the band practice every gameday morning. One of the best perks to living on S Division (in addition to a 10 minute walk to the stadium.)

Or so I hear. 12:55 p.m. Staff in the buidings over there always turn out to watch.
