Michigan WBB knocks off Ohio State 100-94 in OT thriller -- POSBANG

An AMAZING game.

Shannon Smith scored 36 points for Michigan. Freshman star Katelynn Flaherty who wears #3, hit a 3-pointer with under a minute left to tie the game at 82-82.

She finished with 24 points.

Another day at the office for the incredible Cyesha Goree. She had 18 points and 19 rebounds.

Michigan has now beaten both rivals only 5 games into the B1G season. Michigan improves to 11-5 and 3-2 in the B1G.

This is the first time that Michigan has beaten MSU, OSU and PSU in the same season since 2000-01.

Just look at this photo. 100 points. Against OSU, who brought a lot of fans with them. Just great.

I have always thought WBB was a "sleeping giant" at Michigan.  They have the same resources as the men's team does but nobody has been able to turn them into a program that competes for championships.

Maybe this is the team that turns the program into an elite program.

the state of Michigan isn't a great state to have an instate talent for women's basketball. Not sure if it's the sleeping giant.  Same resources as in what? Facilities? If you're talking about money, that's false. Men's Basketball gets more money from the athletic department than Women's Basketball which is true for every school.

Just look at Baylor and South Carolina - nobody teams until recently. They got a little better, had a couple of good recruiting classes and one awesome HS player, and then BOOM.

We can do it. Just need the players to see what we are building and get them to come here. We have enough successful women's progams in other sports to prove that we can be winners.

Oh yea, HARBAUGH!

This is the first time that Michigan has scored 100 points or more since 12/4/1999 in a 103-40 win over CMU.

Big road game up next at Northwestern. They're pretty good this year.

to Coach Barnes-Arico for taking the program to the next level.  Coach Borseth did a good job of bringing in some talent and turning the program around, but now it seems the sky's the limit.

I would have started an open thread but I didn't see the game on TV.  I've never seen 100 points in WBB.  Congrats to Coach Barnes Arico and the WBB team!  Go Blue!

Probably not, but the most recent bracketology has Michigan in the tournament. Their seeding should be even better when the new one is released.

Currently, Charlie Creme has them as an 11 seed.

Maryland, Minnesota and Nebraska are in the rankings and are looking like the top teams Michigan has to beat if they want to win the B1G.

I think hiring a popular big East coach was a great move. there are certain sports like basketball, soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, and even football where I've always thought michigan should take full advantage of the alumni and overall east coast popularity. KBA seems to do that

my girlfriend and i always try come in for a twofer basketball weekend; one men's and one women's, and this year was a ball.  where the men's game felt a little sluggish, the women's game was terrific, fast paced, and intense on both sides.  kba has those girls on point every minute.  it sure was nice to beat those osu ba$tards, particularly with their smarmy coach...they got a ton of calls, and he was still complaining about every whistle.

the girls are a helluva fun team to watch already - they lose goree and ristovski after this year, but the kids and the incoming class look terrific.

man...between hockey having a big weekend, harbaugh, and both hoops teams, it's really fun to be michigan right now.
