Michigan Swimming demolishes Ohio State

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

Earlier this afternoon, Michigan Swimming & Diving, both the Men's and Women's programs who are both coached by Mike Bottom, took on Ohio State for senior day.

The #5 ranked Men took down #12 Ohio State, 183-117. Michigan won 16 of 19 events with senior Dylan Bosch taking 3 of them.

The Men's program have now beaten Ohio State 18 straight times, including having won 47 of the last 48 meetings.

The #9 ranked Women beat down the Buckeyes, 190-110, winning 12 of 16 events.

The regular season for Swimming & Diving will conclude in 2 weeks in east lansing at MSU. The Men sport a 9-0 record while the Women are 8-2.

Ohio state has had a very good swimming program, but Michigan's had just been so much better it has been hard to really see it... Not that any of us would really want to. UM however is such an established power that the term "we don't rebuild, we reload" is truly accurate. The good swimmers from around the country, and the really great swimmers from around Michigan, all get recruited to cone to Ann Arbor.

Ohio State has the second most NCAA team titles (behind Michigan), but none since 1962. OSU hadn't been a national power--or even a B1G title contender, for that matter--for awhile, but has become a much stronger program in the last 10 years or so.

WD always gets auto-negged by some, and then asking about it will get you negged as well, I guess.

What I don't get is why anyone would neg or upvote someone based on passing along information that is pretty much the definition of objective and, I don't know, available at MGoBlue or the like.  But again, I've been here long enough to see some weird, inexplicable stuff.

It's convenient. I always love to hear about us crushing osu, regardless of the sport, and since I rarely visit mgoblue unless I'm looking for something specific, I otherwise wouldn't have known about this. Honestly I get a lot of (non-M) news from here, since I'm rarely on cnn, msn or even espn unless, again, I went there looking for something specific. This is one of the few sites I visit just to see what's new...

so I love swimming posts.  You can actually post times and splits for me. (Totally kidding, do not do that)  Also, my cousins' kid swims for the Buckeyes, so I enjoy this result immensely.
