Challenge by NW on a bang-bang play at third. NW runner called safe, then reversed for the 3rd out in bottom 1. NW challenged the out call. Replay showed that Michigan 3B tagged out the runner just before her hand touched on the slide.
Still scoreless, on to the second!
Wasn't it the other way around...she was called safe and Michigan challenged and won the out call???
Andrew is correct. Ump initially called her safe. Then the umps changed the call to out. Wildcats challenged the call and the challenge was unsuccessful because the tag was made in time.
0-0 top 5th. Michigan gets lead off runner on first via walk.
Northwestern up 1-0 after 5. Relief pitcher through a wild pitch while intentionally walking the Wildcat superstar.

Beaubien gave them four tough innings. Control an issue in the fifth. Storako went five yesterday, probably available to finish if Michigan gets back in it. Northwestern's just riding the arm that got them there, the way everyone used to do it.
It's great that Hutch has that much trust in the freshman to pitch in that situation. She almost got them out of the jam. They probably don't think to practice the intentional walks with runners in scoring position. No way do you pitch to Lewis in that spot.
