this team has a shot - the combo of goaltending, talent on D and O and the upperclassmen having 200ft ability to defend (and the new guys living up to the hype) means they have everything you need

Perfect – rising as deserved, but paced...

Knowing we won't get too big of a surge of hype at once is nice. Wish the football team could've gotten more of that medicine in the last six years.

Penn State has never seen a shot they didn't like. Unfortunately for them, they lost almost everyone who could actually score goals from last year's team. They'll be one of the teams that breaks the Corsi rankings, but in a bad way (through their three games, they're at 59% Corsi For, and yet they're 0-3 and have been outscored 13-6).

I knew Penn State had the reputation of taking every shot they could, but wow. They outshot Wisconsin 52-20...and lost 6-3. I'm no hockey strategist, but it seems like PSU must just be hucking a bunch of crappy shots from distance vs. maybe taking the time to try to set something good up. Doesn't seem like the greatest strategy, but they've made a few tournaments so I guess it's working for them on some level

Certainly good to see Wisconsin come out and thump PSU. Would seem to support the perception that they are a legit team

It's sure fun that we're playing when most of the rest of D1 hasn't started yet because no way are we flying up the rankings like that if everyone is playing. We probably still would've gotten into maybe the 7-9 range, but we've flown into 1 seed territory after just 4 games.

Because of the unusual scheduling due to COVID, polls may mean more this year than others.  Pairwise and RPI won't work so well without nonconference games.  We're off to a great start but it is hard to measure competition this early.  ASU seems worse than expected and Wiscy perhaps better than expected.
