Hockey is a late specialization sport and the game today is such that elite skating can more than compensate for size. AJHL is no joke of a junior league, and what a smart move by him and his family going and playing in Western Canada where they are known for physical play to show his size doesn’t hold him back.

neat story, and how cool that danny farrel, the U of M coach that recruited me but left before the start of my freshman year ('80), was the guy who made the connection for nick with pearson.
maybe the NHL does have a place for a smaller D-man. made me think of that little D-man the wings had about 15 years ago, brian rafalski. small, good player, good scorer from the back line and bringing the puck up.
