Michigan football is Phil Steele's projected ap preseason #19
too low, but I'd rather be low than be ranked high with a lot of pressure.
Thank you for providing a non-freep link. You are a respectable citizen, great American, and Michigan man. Odes have already been written but have yet to coalesce into words.
us beating ND, Neb, and ohio.
no sense? That he picked us to win?
Sirius XM (92) yesterday. He said we will win all of our home games.
If that's the case, he has us losing four of Iowa, Northwestern, Connecticut, MSU and Penn State.
I don't see three losses in that group, much less four.
Edit: Sorry, I didn't understand; I thought this was his rankings of teams, not his preseason rankings prediction.
Honestly "I predict that this is where voters predict teams will finish" seems like kind of a silly thing to do.
It makes perfect sense. He is predicting that the "Preseason AP Poll" will have us ranked #19. He clearly states that these are not his predicion of order of finish, but rather his prediction of the preseason AP poll.
He can easily think that the AP preseason poll will have us underrated.
If we beat those three teams, no one else will beat us. There's no one else who has the weapons to beat us besides those teams.
BOO!
Ha. Phil Steele. This is the guy who had Michigan going 6-6 in 2011 and to the Pizza Bowl.
Not to mention his consistent picking of a FSU vs OU championship game.
That seems about right to me as a preseason prediction. There are some big question marks on this team (interior OL, DL, secondary, running game), and while I think the team as a whole will be much better than it was last year, they're unproven. Plus I prefer being under-ranked than last year when we were way over-ranked.
Let's take a poll to find out.
I'm a little surprised Northwestern is below us, for a team that is coming off a 10-win season and returning pretty much everyone, and I'm almost offended Nebraska is ranked ahead of us. I'm yet to be convinced that Nebraska is a good team under Pelini.
Perhaps you are not aware that Phil Steele lives in Cleveland, Ohio and is a rabid OSU fan. He always thinks OSU is the best team in the country.
EDIT: I should point out that, while Steele is an unabashed OSU homer, he is correct in that OSU will likely be ranked very highly and that they have an unbelievably easy schedule for 2013. I would be absolutely stunned if they lost more than two games next season.
thats cool.. i'll take it. no pressure, just win your games and the rest will take care of itself. ND last year
He has us as one of us 5 teams on the rise: http://insider.espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/8831316/michigan-wolverines-five-teams-rise-2013-college-football
