Michigan Basketball breaks adidas template, keeps same uniforms; Hockey changes for 5th straight yr

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

Michigan will break from the changing adidas template for the first time ever, and will keep their current uniform they have had since 2012-13 per the MDen catalog.

Michigan Hockey will change uniforms for the 5th straight season. Complete redesigns to both Road and Third jerseys.

I'm going to jump in here at the top of the thread to point something out: the absence of new uniforms for basketball does NOT mean that the basketball uniforms are not changing, and there has been no such announcement from the program per the OP source. The fact that new hockey jerseys have been revealed means only that--there are new hockey jerseys. To the best of my knowledge (as a semi-frequent uni-watch.com reader and having just run a handy google search) Adidas has not announced any of its new basketball uniforms yet. NC State, for example, has no new uniforms listed, and they use the same template. Why wouldn't the news be out yet if hockey stuff is? Well, basketball starts a month later than hockey, for one, and it's also a much bigger marketing deal, the kind of thing that programs and apparel providers like to do press reveals for. Obviously, hockey does not need press reveals, so just dumping the information on the interwebs is a quick option. So let's not jump the gun on b-ball yet.

I linked my find of the new adidas template in the OP. At this time last year template change, MDen said in their catalog that there would be new designs.

Now they're offering #10s and #23s in the current styles. Since LeVert & Walton are probably the best two on the team right now.

I miss this jersey oh so, so, SO much.

I got that for $80, which the full price back then in 2010-11.

I bought a Reebok one this summer, but made sure to keep the tags on just in case they changed jerseys. I paid $100 for that one.

MDen says the new jerseys are now $120. Cumong man.

I totally support basketball staying with the same unis. Obviously, we're not just getting passed over--Michigan is now a premiere basketball program. It seems to be an aesthetic choice, and while I might not be with the majority in this, I love the current set. The blue looks great, the white has a lot of sharp color without being overwhelmed, and the maize... Well, it's the uniform of... Fires for THREE... the game is TIED!!!

The stripes don't bother me; horizontal stripes are pretty standard on hockey sweaters--even when we were wearing Nike sweaters, they had three horizontal stripes at waist level (as you can see on the picture posted by Bando earlier in this thread).

For some reason unknown to me, those Nike/Bauer uniforms all had one white stripe, even though white is not one of our colors.  I always hated that, and I like how the recent Adidas/Reebok uniforms are completely maize and blue, except for a little bit of white around the "M" on the maize sweater.

Everyone knows I've been screaming, yelling, begging, pleaded, crying for Michigan to have it's own template for basketball.

I don't like that it is an ex-template...but at least we're not wearing what everyone else is wearing.

Those hockey unis are awesome as well.

Now let's keep these and build tradition!
