Only the second time in Michigan history that we beat multiple ranked teams in an early season tournament. The only other time? The Fab Five in the 1992 Rainbow Classic.
From 1993-2018, Michigan was 4-14 against ranked teams in early season tournaments.

Beilein teams have been slow starters.
Last year was an exception to that rule, and this year's Michigan team has also not started slow.
Given that we've had two coaches involved, that tells me something about the players as much as anything. Zavier Simpson's leadership would seem to be a logical cause.

The only game I remembered from the 1992 Rainbow Classic was beating UNC. It's what made the NC game harder to take.

Any word on what tournament we're playing in next year? I saw Atlantis and Maui already have their fields set. From what I've been able to find online, we're not slated for one yet. Anyone know anything? Just watching all the fans there this week, it looks like a really cool atmosphere. I'd like to take my family to a getaway like that but it obviously depends where they're playing.

I remember that Rainbow Classic in '92. We beat two teams that would go on to the Final Four. We beat UNC on a buzzer-beating tip-in by Rose - and then blew the doors off Kansas in the final.
