That Neutral Site against Nebraska should be 2-1-0.
Lateral the damn ball just one more time
LIterally the most boneheaded play ever. Ran out of bounds? what the fuck Tyler
With Steve Breaston right on his wing.
I remember the announcers having no idea what was going on with that play. That game was such a cluster in so many ways. I'm not sure it would have stood even if Michigan had pulled that off.
Good stuff, WD.
It feels like we're 8-15-1 at Kinnick Stadium instead of the opposite. So many dong punch losses in Iowa City.
Many years from now when our Rutgers record is 50-1, a rogue Wolverine football historian will educate the masses about throw-god legend Gary Nova delivering darts all night long in Piscataway to produce our only loss in the Garden State.
Didn't forget about you, old archrival-
Michigan vs Chicago

- Stagg Field (1893-1939): 10-4

I really did not expect it to be that good in Iowa City and Madison based on recent history.
My personal Big Ten attendance records are pretty ugly in the tough places...
OSU (0-4), Iowa (0-1), Wisconsin (0-1), MSU (1-1), Indiana (1-0), Illinois (1-0), Minnesota (1-0), Penn State (1-0), Purdue (1-0), Northwestern (4-0)
My personal road records are Northwestern (5-0), Illinois (5-1, thanks a lot Rich Rod), Indiana (3-0), Purdue (2-2), Iowa (1-2), and Wisconsin (0-1). I guess this shouldn't count since I have been to NW, ILL and IU 14 times.
Winning in Iowa City was the norm under Bo, Moeller and Lloyd who had a combined record at Kinnick of 11-3-1.
Then a man named RichRod entered the picture and we're 0-4 since. Losses by 2 points, 8 points, 3 points and 1 point.
Yeah. Iowa can go fuck themselves.
Way too close for comfort....
Michigan vs Ohio State
- Series Record: 58-50-6
I thought the same thing. I mean it's almost like not winning but one game over the past 15 years or so has tightened things up a bit.
I mean they've led the all time series since like 1907, its really about clinging on for dear life at this point and hoping they have just one bad decade.
What a ridiculously specific time to cherrypick from.
Also, even if you look at it since 1907 we still lead.
It's a specific time because he is speaking of a specific record. If it's not 1907, then how far do you have to go back (counting backward from last season) for Michigan to have a better head to head record vs. OSU? I could look it up, but it would be too painful.
People who cherrypick history having something to hide.
Why don't they ever mention the whole thing? Oh, I know why. Because they having a losing record against us.
I mean, I'm not trying to be a dick with this post, but I disagree with the statement that's "a ridiculously specific time to cherrypick from."
Consider the statement: "Ohio State leads the series when we consider games played between the year X and the present day."
That statement is correct for any X from 1908 to 2018.
It’s not arguing they lead the series, it’s pointing out they’ve had the better of Michigan for a very long time and Michigan leads the overall because of Pre world war 1 dominance. I mean it’s nice we can rub it in their faces we beat them when they were a club team but it’s not really great. Also 1907 is the year we started playing every year I believe.
also to be honest, I don’t really care about any records Pre-integration, your records don’t mean shit if you didn’t a large group of people play.
If we lose The Game this year, we will not have a winning record against them in Michigan Stadium. Ughhh.

Saw the same thing and my heart just sank. Time to rattle off a bunch of wins and restore balance to the force
I remember when the record was 56-35-6.
Sigh
I can't believe we lost to Rutgers
I can't believe we lost 11 games in Ann Arbor to Illinois.
was that back when they still had the "s"?
Can't believe we are 21-7-1 against Wisconsin in Madison. 75% win percentage in tough place to play is very nice.
And always amazes me that since losing there in 1977 we are 16-0 at Minnesota between 1978 and today. Though it took an comeback from 28-7 in the 4th Quarter in 2003 to keep this streak alive.
Back in the day, Wisconsin was horrible. And why we are on the topic, Northwestern was one of the worst teams in the Country every year.
Wisconsin was absolutely horrendous for many years. They were as bad if not worse in basketball.
We lead the series in MBB with an astounding record of 95-72. That much of a lead even with our struggles against them in the 21st century and especially at the Trohl Center.
You haven’t heard, Wisconsin is always in a down year when Michigan beats them...
Anyone have the stats on ND?
To hell with Notre Dame...
Michigan vs Notre Dame
- Series Record: 24-17-1
- Ann Arbor: 14-7-0
- Ferry Field I (1893-1905): 3-0-0
- Ferry Field II (1906-1926): 1-1-0
- Michigan Stadium (1927-present): 10-6-0
- South Bend: 9-11-1
- Green Stocking Ball Park (1887-1888): 3-0-0
- Notre Dame Stadium: 6-11-1 (1930-present)
- Neutral Site: 1-0-0
Those numbers don't add up. 7+11 sure isn't 17.
ND's 2012 win was vacated by the NCAA so I don't count it in the series record portion but it's in there in the stadium record part.
Same thing with OSU in 2010.
Gotcha!
Perfect record in the Metrodome forever. Hopefully it will stay that way at TCF, too.
why did you have to remind us of 2014 with the piscataway record?
15-8-1 is surprising......it feels like we never win in Kinnick

I wasn't doubting..... just making an observation
Yep, 1-5 since 2003 will do that.
That was great to read through! Very interesting! Thanks for your efforts WD!
OK credit where credit is due.
Thanks, WD.
Never would have guessed our record at Ohio stadium was that good. You’re telling me we were better than .500 AT OSU before this losing streak started? Crazy.
That Wisconsin record is really surprising. Especially to see how good on the road we are.
Really well done WD, I enjoy this kind of data.
So, Indiana, a fellow charter member of the Big Ten, and Michigan played them eight times between 1903 and 1943. But the record of 1-1 at the old Memorial Stadium is correct. Michigan only played them twice in Bloomington in that era, 1932 and 1959. While amazing, thus are the vagaries of old time scheduling. (And actually, Penn State era scheduling, Michigan missed IU three times (six years total) in the 12 year scheduling cycle that started with PSU's arrival, and then again in 2011 and 2012.
Army was a national power into the 1950s, so it's not too surprising we had a roughly even record.

Some of these places just stick out in my mind as being nightmares.
Kinnick - where outside of Iowa’s two best teams - Michigan won a lot until recently. Since then, house of horrors.
Madison - Haven’t won there since 2000 if I’m not mistaken.
Obviously Columbus.
State College is interesting because we’ve gone in there and beaten them some times. The White Out environment is always tough.
Nebraska and Ohio State are the only conference opponents who have stadiums in use after 1930 where Michigan has a losing record. In Nebraska's case, that's because our only game there was the Russell Bellomy game.
