SEC limits football signees to 28 each year
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
DESTIN, Fla. -- On the final day of the Southeastern Conference spring business meeting Friday, league presidents unanimously approved a rule limiting conference football teams to signing just 28 players annually.
NCAA rules allow teams just 25 scholarships per year, but SEC schools generally over sign players, anticipating a portion of the ones they sign won't academically qualify. The new SEC rule takes effect immediately.
Easy on the cut and paste, homeboy.
it's not premium content.
cut and paste articles, rather to provide links and a summary. Just sayin.
Regarding the article, its high time that happened, though it hardly has anything to do with mgoblog
i still think people here get too excited about re-posting or paraphrasing content from other sites, but something doesn't have to be premium content for it to be an unfair or infringing use.
i didn't know the rule, i don't post that often... sorry. i clipped it down a tad
Thanks for fixing, and thanks for the post!
Not a single piranha out there to flame for the double post? We must be getting soft.
haha
I can already see the next wave -

Sure NFL-bound star recruit X has elected to commit to sign with SEC team X ... for next season.
'Well, coach told me they really want me, but they don't have room to sign me this year, and since everybody knows there's no way I'll ever qualify academically this year, I'm just going to voluntarily put off signing, then sign next year, red shirt, and play one year before jumping to the NFL. It'll be just like the NBA, only I have to waste a year at Junior College.'
When asked if he thought it was fair to coerce a student athlete into sacrificing his chance at a quality education and greater playing time and readiness at another institution, SEC coach X scoffed and then stormed off to commit more recruiting violations."
