Absolutely.  The guy has made a career of winning the right way.  I would put his understanding of "Xs and Os" up there with any coach.  In fact so many of his wins have been BECAUSE of his strategic advantage because he often had inferior talent.

The guy has survived a plane crash, honored Austin Hatch's scholarship and formed a bond with him.  He is just an all around excellent guy.

I really hope we name the court after him when he retires.  We knocked it out of the park when we hired him.

Very hard.  Not only is it just the second time in Beilein's tenure, it's one of only a handful of times we've ever done it.  Before 2012-13, the last time had been 1985-86.  It means winning 10+ games in a row, which is never a simple task.

Out of about 350 Division I teams, only four are undefeated.  We're one of them.

Every other time we’ve done that, we’ve come away with either a conference regular season title or a Final Four appearance IIRC. Hope that trend continues.

34-5 in the 2018 calendar year.

Losses were to Purdue (twice in wild games), Nebraska and NW on the road (Neb was after an awful stretch of B1G scheduling) and in the championship game to an excellent Villanova team. Pretty good.

OP is too casual about this accomplishment. This is much more difficult than, say, winning three or four non-conference games in football. With the advent of holiday tournaments filled with highly-ranked teams and inter-conference "challenges" (the B1G does two of these), going undefeated before conference play in basketball is becoming quite rare.

....and it was fun to watch, if a bit stressful now and again. I half-jokingly said to myself that this team needs to play 2-3 times a week for a bit, but we're going to get that with the conference schedule just days away now.

There are guys who talk and guys who walk. Beilein walks. Should name the bball gym after him when he retires.
