It's not necessarily inconsistent, because the thread title is misleading.  Her quote there was, "From an academic and basketball perspective, it couldn’t be more ideal."  Academics and basketball are a big part of things, but there's more to a visit and college choice than that.

I'll defer to you, since you surely know what all moms want for their kids' college experiences, but I was thinking that factors like proximity to home, kids' happiness, relationships, job supports, clubs/activities, coaching stability, and cultural fit, among a thousand others, might make a difference, too.

at this point. UM just recently entered the mix here. I wouldn't necessarily say we lead, but we're one of the few schools looking at Nojel as strictly a PG, and I can tell you factually that is HUGE according to Mom. And in this case, I think Mama knows best!

Reading that, you don't really hear a lot of kids talk about how they look for both stability and the right fit, but whatever you may think about the current coaching situation, stability is a selling point for us. If we can find recruits - hopefully such as this kid - who also feel at home, if you will, that is even better.

One thing I really like about Nojel Eastern, is that he has the potential to grow into a bunch of different positions. He could legitimately be a Darius Morris-style PG, he could develop his jumper and be Caris Levert-like, or he could max out his frame and move down to the 3 or 4. He's got a nice combination of frame, athleticism, handles, and offensive skills that should allow him to find a role somewhere on the team. I think this is particularly important with Xavier Simpson, and Jordan Poole who bring very defined skillsets that fit a particular role. I my opinion Eastern is a much better roster fit than Davison.

This is the kind of prospect that needs to be offered. Playmakers are just as important in Beilein offense as shooters are. We've seen Duncan Robinson be rendered ineffective because defense can stay home on him because nobody threatens defense consistently
