Mark May on RichRod

Submitted by kdhoffma on
You guys are going to love what Mark May said today during an interview on an Arizona radio station. Here's a link to audio, they start talking about Michigan about halfway thru: http://ktar.net/blogs/gash/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/11-25-mark-may-40… To sum it up he says that the RUMOR is RichRod would love to take the Tennessee or Clemson job and Michigan would be willing to let him go if they could broker a deal with Tenn or Clemson.

In the next couple weeks, it would be great to see RR come out and publicly denounce any rumors and to affirm that he is a Michigan Man and isn't going anywhere. As a fan, this would give me a ton of faith in RR to lead the men in blue. Not that he's ever spoken to the contrary, but it will give every fan/alumnus/booster that good feeling about the program.

This guy has the largest axe in the history of axes to grind with Michigan. Anything out of his mouth should be IMMEDIATELY ignored. Unless he's ripping on ND and Lou Holtthhh is sitting next to him theeeeeething with rage.

would RR want to go through another rebuilding season somewhere else. he is staying, other wise there would be concerns with the recruits.

The logic is that Clemson, having run the spread under Bowden, is already equipped to run the offense. Which isn't really true, but does that ever matter in the rumor mill?

ESPN: The company that is now also bringing you rumors that the Patriots are going to trade Brady and keep Cassel. IF there's no real news out there, they'll manufacture it.

I swear I saw Skip Bayless about three seconds from pulling a shiv out and stabbing Dana Jacobson for even asking the question it was so stupid. Imagine that: Skip Bayless - Voice of Reason.

whether this is fact or not, i would think even the slightest mention of this possibility in the mainstream media cannot help us in recruiting. if you were a recruit considering michigan and then heard this, it would have to make you waver a bit. maybe im wrong, I hope I am wrong, but this is not good - even if its completely false.

Phil Callahan over at ungoblue.com mentioned on his forum that other schools had contacted Mchigan before about Rich Rod. That sure as hell doesn't mean that RR is looking to leave or that Martin wants him to, however.

give any credit to what these clowns have to say. I thought that Herbie learned his lesson-I guess Mark May has to step in shit himself before he learns. Might want to get some hip boots for this one Mark. You keep good company Mark, thanks for reminding me why I don't wach your show.

May has just taken too much "friendly fire" from sitting close to Lou Hollttthzzzz. This has to be a raw rumor - that is why he is putting it out on a radio show and not saying it on ESPN. RichRod bailing this soon would mark him as a quitter who put up a 3-9 and bolted. If RichRod has any balls at all, this has to be utter garbage. What makes this sound a bit credible is Rich's statements about not looking into the situation and not knowing the players before taking the job. It opens up the idea that feels he made a mistake. It would be great to see Rich say that he loves it here at Michigan and that Mark May is full of crap. Both because I would like to hear Rich more clearly define himself as a Michigan guy and becuase I generally think that Mark May is full of crap.

I'm new to this forum, don't know much about recruiting, but I do know/ want to say that this would be a disaster. in my undergrad years, lloyd's offense bored me to death - finally RRod comes and is installing spread...and these rumors? terrible. Whatever, I'm going to assume this is just garbage talk for my sanity.

This is the same Mark May that rambled on for about 2 minutes straight on Saturday night about how Michigan fans need to be patient because RR will turn Michigan into a powerhouse within 3 years. Weird.

...but just the thought of it scares the living shit out of me. I know that RR will turn the program around in the next 3-4 years, but if he left it would be a DISASTER. RR leaving would be pretty much the only thing that keeps us from becoming a power again in the next 5 years, I think.

i dont know why in the world RR would leave UM now. He knows that his 2nd year turn-around is huge and he knows with the talent he has coming in will do great things for him. also, the only reason people think mark may is credible is because he only gets compared to lou holtz. pat forde probably seems like a rational, well-thought individual sitting next to lou holtthhhh
