Maize and Blue????
Is it just me or are our colors no longer Maize and Blue?
The yellow we use seems more like a neon yellow than a maize, and that includes all of the yellow in fan products as well.
This really stood out to me at the game when I'd see guys in actual maize shirts that were so much darker than the yellow worn by the majority of students, the coaching staff, and the players.
Not saying this is a good or a bad thing, but would love other thoughts.

The MAIZE you're thinking of is actually the wrong one-- dating far back to pre-Bo days, maize meant yellow, a bright yellow (no M in the CMYK). Somewhere along the line Nike and others made that into more of a mustard-gold hue that's intended more for the likes of Georgia Tech or Iowa.
Think back to the away jerseys during the early 90's-- still had that pale bright yellow that didn't quite show up between the blue stripes on the sleeves. I'm happy Adidas has gone back to it.

Maybe the current version of maize is a little on the neon side, but it is supposed to be bright. Most "maize" shirts that people sport are pretty much orange.
Rule of thumb: if your shirt (along with two others) were free for buying one shirt, don't put too much stock in the authenticity of any colors, logos, or even spelling of words associated with it. If you can't remember purchasing the shirt, look inside: if it says "Steve and Barry's", it falls into (nay, defines) this category.

The brighter color is the "correct" Maize.
Look at this article from the University to see (in the picture at the bottom) just how bright the official maize is supposed to be.
