Riding around in my car  was listening on WCBN 88.3 fm.. . also streaming on wcbn.org..

Student announcers aren’t bad (not quite Ernie  andPaul) and M is up 4-3 in the 4th against Illinois St.

Notes from game one (6-1 W over Georgia State):

Alex Storako had 16 Ks. She had an encouraging freshman campaign, ERA around 2.00 and 190 Ks in about 140 IP. If she can build on that this year, M could have two top end pitchers.

Lou Allan had a double and a two-run HR. Would be huge if she could turn into an impact bat - had a lot of hype coming out of HS, but some bad injury luck early in her career.

Haley Hoogenraad had a single and two doubles - really nice start to the year. Hoogenraad is a gamer.

Julia Jimenez had a double and made a nice defensive play to cut down a runner. Sounds like she was also robbed of a hard single on a nice play by the ISU pitcher in the second game, too. Impact bats are the biggest question mark for this team, so any offense some newcomers to the lineup can provide is massive.

Allen has had injuries with her knee(s) and that's affected her defensively - pretty much unplayable in the field and on base. Her being 100% and hitting 3/4/500 would be huge for this team.

ILL St got to MB a bit so I'm afraid unless a pitcher takes a leap or the bats take a leap, this will be another year where they get to the regionals and that's it. B10 has Minn, NW, Wisc, OSU in addition to M so our pitching depth with the big 2 probably gives us a better chance than 2-3 of those 4 for the BTT.
