M Soccer Advances to Final Four!

Submitted by QuarterbackU on

Michigan soccer beats Maryland on the road in their quarterfinal matchup, 3-2, in overtime!  M was down 1-0 at halftime, scored twice to take the lead before giving up a tying goal with 11 minutes left...M scores in the overtime period on a nice crossing pass...

First College Cup appearance in Michigan Soccer history!  Congrats guys!  Go Blue in Santa Barbara!

A good Michigan crowd..probably around 250-300 Michigan fans, including a 60-70 person Student section, which was pretty good. The place was going crazy. Good end to end stuff. If I were British I'd say it was a cracking game. Maryland dominated possession, but Michigan's strikers were fantastic, and took their chances. The goal was right in front of us, the place went from absolutely packed to empty and quiet in about 3 minutes. Except, of course, for the Michigan fans, who were singing and chanting for about a half hour after the match. The Maryland fans were OK, but the Michigan fans were pretty loud, you could hear them all the way across the field.

Oh, and what propelled us to victory? In between the 1st and 2nd periods of extra time, we did the Blues Brothers. Yeah, it was awesome. Go Blue!

Akron wins 3-2 in penalties to advance.

They've man handled us pretty well the last two times we've played including the aforementioned 7-1 demolition but that seemed to spark something in our team so I'm hoping for a pretty good game next Friday.
