M Baseball kicks off season tonight against Iowa
The game will be on B10 Network tonight at 6 PM central time, and then the Wolverines play a doubleheader against Iowa tomorrow starting at 2:00. So between the basketball game and baseball, tomorrow looks to be a spectacular Michigan sports day. It's also my daughter's 18th birthday, but we'll be celebrating tonight. I hope she thinks watching a baseball game is a good way to celebrate......
Hockey is at 4pm CT so you can celebrate with a dual-sport doubleheader! Happy Birthday!
LOL, I like the way you think.
Thanks for the heads-up on BTN coverage. I so much want to attend Michigan baseball and softball games this season but am resigned to the likelihood that unless I travel to Nebraska to see the College World Series, it probably won't happen.
Same here. I'm hoping they allow fans when they're at Northwestern, I'll definitely go.
Note that the baseball games this weekend will not be on Big Ten Network. They will, unfortunately, be on the premium "BTN Plus" streaming service.
Thanks for letting us know.

Hoping for another great Michigan baseball season! Go Blue!
It's on Big 10 Network +, that's a lot different than Big 10 Network.
I'll pay $14.95 for the next two weekends, and 8 or 9 games. Beyond that, who knows where the games will be shown.
Fire Bakich! This team can definitely make it to Omaha.
Game starts 7pm
There are a few FREE streaming sites ..,right around game time ill post one that works (well they will work for me and others too-but maybe not for all, depends on where you live )
Go Bakich!
GO BLUE!
Starting Lineup!
Michigan is starting 3 grad transfers plus 1 Junior College transfer:
DH Clark Elliott (So/Fr) - Barrington, IL
1B Jimmy Obertop (So/Fr) - St Louis, MO
C Griffin Mazur (5Y/Sr) - Moorpark, CA (UC Irvine)
RF Tito Flores (So/Fr) - Detroit, MI
SS Benjamin Sems (5Y/Sr) - Chesterfield, MO (Kansas)
3B Christian Molfetta (6Y/Sr) - Laguna Beach, CA (Stanford)
CF Christian Bullock (5Y/Sr) - Chicago, IL
LF Jake Marti (Jr/So) - Bloomington, IL (Heartland CC)
2B Riley Bertram (Jr/So) - Zionsville, IN
P Steven Hajjar (Jr/Fr) - Andover, MA
The classes represent the number of years out of high school, plus the eligibility status of the player. For example, Hajjar's (Jr/Fr) means he was a high school senior in 2018, redshirted in 2019, played in 2020 but that season did not count against his eligibility, so he is technically a Junior but has the same eligibility as a Freshman. So "(Jr/Fr)".
Thanks for posting. It’ll be interesting to see how much chemistry this team has with all the grad transfers.
Pitching depth should be a bonus this year with Hajjar, Dragnani, Paige and a veteran bullpen. My guess is Proctor, the Georgia transfer, is the 4th starter, but that is just a guess. Playing multiple 4 game/3 day weekend series, we definitely have an advantage with our pitching staff.
Enjoy watching Hajjar this year because it’s likely going to be his only full season with us, he’s a projected first rounder next year.
The free sites i found say "Michigan vs Iowa baseball" but 2 of them have college hoops and 1 wont load for me .. Im listening to the game on an Iowa baseball radio network .not sure if the Wolverine radio site is working

0-0 Michigan batting top 2nd
2 run double for Marti Michigan up 2-0 top 2nd (runner on 2nd-1 out) Iowa starter will probably be near 40 pitches in the 2nd inning
A Sems single, a Bullock single, and a double by Jake Marti give Michigan a 2-0 lead going into the bottom of the 2nd.
Let’s Go Blue!
Michigan up 2-1 batting top 4th
Michigan up 2-1 batting top of 6th inning , both starters still in and have around 7 Ks each
Both offenses struggling tonight. 6 hits in the second inning 2 combined outside of that. Hajjar is in total control, only throwing 70 pitches through 6. Need outings like these to keep the bullpen fresh during these 4 game weekends.
2-2 bottom 7 Iowa batting runner on 2nd 1 out
2-2 top 8 Michigan batting both teams into the bullpens
Flores with a leadoff double, Sems sacrifices him to third and Mofetta singles him in. 3-2 Michigan, 1 out in the top of the 8th.
Michigan goes on to load the bases in the top of the 8th but can't put another one across. 3-2 Michigan in the middle of the 8th. Michigan has committed to using up their closer, Willie Weiss, for the weekend by putting him in with 2 out in the 7th today.
Michigan up 3-2 Iowa batting bottom 8
Michigan had bases loaded one out ,top of 8 couldnt score .
Back-to-back doubles by Tito Flores & Benjamin Sems give Michigan an insurance run in the top of the 9th. 4-2 Michigan.
Michigan up 4-2 Iowa batting bottom 9
Michigan WINS !!!! 4-2 , scary 9th Iowa had a couple runners on . Both staffs recorded 13 Ks
Same two teams Double Header tomorrow
1-0 43 to go (all BIG10 games)
Michigan with the 4-2 win!
Highlight: closer Willie Weiss coming in during the 7th, pitching the last 2.1 innings, and getting 5 strikeouts for the win. This probably uses him up for the weekend, so Michigan needed him to get that win.
Lowlight: 13 strikeouts by Michigan batters, including an 0-for-7 performance with 6 strikeouts by the 1-2 hitters. Needless to say, you need more than that from the top of the order.
Doubleheader tomorrow at 3:00 Eastern, I think both games are 7 innings. Cameron Weston is listed as the game 1 pitcher and game 2 might be Jacob Denner or Isaiah Paige.
Where do see the projected starters for tomorrow?
I got that from the Iowa pre-game press release.
I admit that I have no idea how accurate that is.
Obligatory: Fire Bakich
