Looking at the (Not So) Near Future - Out of Conference Futures

Submitted by Harbaugh's Lef… on

After 2017, we only have one season where our schedule is full, 2020 (@Washington, Ball State?, Virgina Tech).

According to fbschdules, we have:

2018: @Notre Dame, SMU

2019: Army, Notre Dame

2021: @Virgina Tech, Washington

I won't go much further than that when we start series with UCLA, Texas and Oklahoma.

Where do you think Warde Manuel and Jim Harbaugh turn to to fill out the schedule? Who do you guys want to see us play?

EDIT:

Typo! The Washington game in 2021 is a Home game!

We somehow need to move Virginia Tech to 2028-29 or something. We'd have Washington, Virginia Tech, Ohio State, Penn State and probably Wisconsin in at least one of those seasons. They were all Playoff or at least CCG participants this year with no signs of slowing down soon (all have young-ish, well-liked-by-fanbase coaches). One of those two OOC options would suffice to boost our SOS as long as we replace VT with a lower-tier Power 5. I've always thought scheduling a basketball school like Kentucky, Kansas or Duke would be cool.

In order of quality opponents I'd like to see added down the road, or matched up with in a bowl game: 1. Stanford 2. Georgia 3. USC 4. Clemson 5. Utah 6. LSU 7. Oregon 8. Florida State 9. Alabama 10. Tennessee

Dabo has a history of struggling early in the season (2016 vs. Troy, 2015 vs Louisville and ND, 2014 vs Georgia).

1. USC - 2018 in AA; 2019 in LA.  We would love a game for the WC alums like me.  SC would like the East Coast exposure for Sam Darnold's junior year ahead of his Heisman run.

2. Miami (YTM) - 2018 in AA, 2019 in Mia.  Miami has 1 non-conf opponent scheduled for 2018, and plenty of flexibility.  The Bushes (Devin, Devin Jr, Gwen) get a game in front of their families and friends on 2019.

Too bad the schedules for Cal and Stanford will not work out.  Would love to be able to sell Najee on a game in front of his family.
