Lo Wood was a teammate of Ricardo Miller last year and after transferring is a teammate of Jeremy Gallon this year.  I'm sure both are recruiting him hard; Florida is our biggest threat for Lo Wood and I expect a battle over him.  He's projected to be a high 4 star, possibly a 5th star.

Makes up for getting the decommit from McNeal. I would rather have the WRs that have commited fo the 2010 season than McNeal. I know he would be nice to get but everytime I look at his game stats he doesn't seem to stand out like the other guys coming in. Maybe the defense was focused on him I guess. Good luck to him wherever he goes maybe he will even comeback to UM who knows?

Are people smoking crack? Everytime we whiff on a prospect or have a decommitment, people say "oh he really wasn't that great, or he isn't a true Michigan man, or we don't need him."  Come on, McNeal was a top 100 prospect; losing him hurts but it was inevitable with the offensive struggles and his desire to take other visits.  I wouldn't rule him out on coming back again, but people need to get a proper perspective on recruiting and how it works.

Where did I say he wasn't that good? I only said he didn't stand out like others when it came to his numbers, that is black and white. I think he is great but I'm not going to lose sleep over a WR when Michigan pulls them in class after class. What do you want me to tell you? That he was getting 200 yards a game and putting the ball in the zone 3 times as well?

I would still like him to come but with his decommit maybe Reuben Randle will take an even better look at Michigan now that there is more room for him to come in and get playing time.

Settle a little. And read my original post again please.

McNeal is a good player.  His numbers may not stack up against the other receivers, but high school numbers can be misleading.  Jeremy Jackson, for example, has a pretty good QB (Nader Furrha) throwing him the ball.  Last year Koger didn't put up very good numbers at TE; he looked like a better prospect for a DE, acording to his numbers.  Now he's our starting TE.

Also, McNeal is a true deep threat, unlike Jackson.  Jackson is going to be a possession receiver and he might catch some posts or jump balls because of his size, but he's not going to outrun anyone.  Ricardo Miller is thought by some to be a future TE.  I haven't seen much tape on him, but guys who are pegged as "future tight ends" are not necessarily expected to be huge playmakers on the outside.

I have to agree about McNeal's numbers as he comes from Minnesota.  Besides Adam Weber and alternate universe All-Pro quarterback Joe Mauer, the state develops very little real quarterback talent.  It gets too cold to throw the ball effectively by the end of October, so it is really not the environment for quarterback development.  McNeal has the the skills, his decommitment is not ok.  Remember people, LaTerryal Savoy has started two games in a row.  We need depth

Magnus,

Jeremy Jackson and Nader Furrha do not play on the same team. Jackson attends Huron High School and Furrha goes to Pioneer. You're right, however, that numbers can sometimes be misleading in terms of gauging how good a player is. I remember the YouTube highlight of McNeal that was posted a while back, and he looked pretty talented to me.
