Lloyd Carr, Bill Martin, and Red Berenson all diagnosed with skin cancer

Submitted by number63 on

I apologize if this has been posted somewhere already, but I just came across this shocking news:

"Michigan athletic director Bill Martin, hockey coach Red Berenson and retired football coach Lloyd Carr share another bond beyond the Maize and Blue that runs in their veins. All three have been diagnosed with melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer."

The full article is here:

I just want to offer my thoughts and prayers to all three men and wish them a full and speedy recovery.

Wow, I thought this was going to be a joke post when I saw the subject, but the article is real. Hope they all get healthy again.

Skin Cancer, unless it's gone unchecked forever and has spread to other organs, would generally not force one into retirement. I doubt this is the source of the rumor.

I heard the Parkinson's rumor roughly 3 years ago. The I would guess that the time from diagnosis to treatment for melanoma is much much less than that.
