Livid - Our kids deserved better today

Take those 2 or 3 calls on us with Griffin bulldozing towards the basket. Take 2 of our offensive fouls away. The ridiculous T. What do have? I'd say pretty damn close to an even game that's up for grabs. Great season, no complaints. Our kids are awesome. But they deserved better than some guys is OU jerseys blowing the whistle.

Yeah, we played very poorly for that stretch before and after halftime, but still, you've got to acknowledge that this game could well have turned out differently if our star player had gotten to play more than 20 minutes. I don't remember him fouling out of a game all season before this, and the only reason he did here was that a bunch of 50/50 calls went against him. The charge on Manny for his 4th personal, in particular, was a game-changer. If it had gone the other way, he's shooting an and 1 to make it a 2-point game. Instead, OU got the ball with a five-point lead and Manny had to come out. That sequence just killed us.

Blake Griffin showed why he is the best player in college basketball today. At the same time, it’s tough to match up when the refs won’t stop blowing the whistle. I guess that’s what happens when you have a crew that has never officiated a Big Ten game in their lives. It's called defense and unlike the Big 12 we actually play it.

I am not livid, but I see where you are going. Manny's last two fouls were very questionable charges, especially his 4th foul. That foul killed a minor rally for M. Generally when the offensive player gets his shoulders past the defender while he is in midair it isn't an offensive foul, except on Manny. Manny's 4th foul is a play similar to Griffins monster dunk. Player has lane to basket, defense is over a little too slowly and doesn't get square to attacker and there is contact. Griffin gets a highlight dunk that iirc was an and one, and our star gets saddled with his 4th. The T made no sense. Griffin is trapped in a double team on the baseline, plows through Novak who is obviously in position with planted feet and Griffin gets another and one, and checks out his flexed arms for a moment. Also Sims box out of Griffin for his 2nd foul was a stupid call (not Sims' 1st, the undercut was a legit call). I am talking about the one where Sims boxed out Griffin all the way out of bounds. Boxing out is allowed, it is not a foul. It all probably doesn't change the outcome of the game as we were lucky to be in it with Wright's outburst. Here's to next year and hopefully Cronin and Morgan can help us with post defense and rebounding.

Our guys gave an amazing effort, had some tough calls for sure, but the better team won and it's really disappointing to come on here and see everyone bitching about the media and the refs (this is not directed at the author of this thread or any other specific poster, by the way). Have some perspective. Remember when we were 5-7 in the Big Ten and slipping fast? When we lost at Iowa and it looked like the NIT again? Considering how far this team came in such a short period of time, and seeing how well they competed with one of the nation's best teams once again this season, we should all be proud. WE CAN BUILD ON THIS!!!

I'm never one to disagree with officiating since over the course of a season good and bad calls generally balance out. I was frankly disgusted when I came on here and saw people complaining about the refereeing. The team played their hearts out and showed and came up short against a better team which was just too big inside. As much as the original poster said they didn't want to take anything away from the team, they did by moaning about the refs.

I agree about good and bad calls balancing out over the course of the season, but I can understand the frustration of those who found reason to complain. There's no reason to be disgusted. It sucked that the second half was broken up by an insane number of fouls that always seemed to go against us, questionable or not. It sucks have momentum killed by whistles and not the better team on the court.

If only we had converted on any of those fastbreak/quasi-fastbreak opportunites when we were up by three. Could have had a least nine point lead.

Despite our inability in the 2nd half to get things going early. There was a window, after CJ hit those 2 3's, in which we could have evened things up. And to have that taken away by some of the most egregiously bad calls I've seen this year really pisses me off. I mean really, look it at the perspective of the kids; you're trying to cut into this lead and then you have this crap called on you. And then they go down and bulldoze Novak. Come on man, get real. We were robbed.

Wrong or right, fans bitch and I mean especially if they feel that their team isn't getting the fair shake of things. Griffin did get superstar treatment with those calls. The only way to overcome that is by putting the ball in the hole more than they do. No way around it. The year Michael Jordan and the Bulls finally beat the Bad Boys they shot ten more free throws per game. The games usually were decided within the five to ten point margin. Now, the funny thing is, is that during the regular season the Pistons went to the line more than the Bulls, but in the playoffs...well, that is a horse of a different color. Now does this mean that the year the Pistons lost to the Bulls that they were jobbed? ---(sp?) No, the Bulls were just better that year and being the better team they were aided the benefits of the calls. Basketball has always been that way. But I have an idea on how we can change this. There is a man named Jarel. He lives on a planet called Crypton. Rumor has it, that his son gains power from our yellow sun, a power that provides him with limitless abilities, and yes, even the ability to turn back time. How you might ask, by flying at super speeds around the earth against said earth's rotation causing the very hand of time itself to turn back its persistent grind(Que dramatic music) Now if we can make Jarel a Michigan fan, we just may be able to have him force his son to do this incredible feat to change the outcome of every Michigan loss.
