What would Washington have to pay him? 5 million? 6 million a year? I mean, the only way you even think about taking that job is a huge raise, and Miles is somewhere close to 4 million a year already, right? You'd have to be nuts to take it without a massive raise. Hell, you might be nuts to take it even with a massive raise.

Much nicer area is debatable. Cold and rainy isn't nice to everybody. Plus the talent level is crappy in Washington, and pretty solid in Louisiana. And if you go to UW you need to wait until Pete Carroll retires before you have a shot at a conference title.

Washington was once a great job and it could be again. They have a couple powerhouse HS teams out there - it's not a recruiting backwater. The campus is beautiful, the city is very appealing for a recruit. The stadium is LOUD when it's full. And it's not that hard, or shouldn't be, to beat WSU. Big-city school up against a college in the back of nowhere? There's no reason, with decent recruiting and a decent coach, U-Dub shouldn't absolutely own Wazzu. I would be absolutely shocked if Miles ended up at UW. But Fulmer, now. That, I could see. UW turned a pretty blind eye to Neuheisel's shenanigans. They wouldn't mind Fulmer.

The state of Washington will seek access to the Federal TARP lending facility to finance a new contract for Miles. They're also contemplating floating state bonds or levying a new sales tax as alternatives. As a further inducement, Bill Gates has agreed to move out of his mansion on Lake Washington so Miles has a place to live. Jon Tenuta will be joining Miles as DC, and rumors are also flying that Charlie Weis will resign to take the OC job under Miles.
