LaLota's future position?

Submitted by Fresh Meat on
I was just curious if anyone knew where LaLota projects and whether he is expected to contribute next year. I noticed in the last recruiting post it was mentioned that Ash and Talbott would come in and back up RVB and compete for his starting spot after he left, but I was under the impression that LaLota played that spot and thought it was odd he wasn't mentioned. And if he playes BG's spot, everyone seems to assume that either RVB will be there next year with Big Will in the middle and Martin at the 3-tech DT or Roh will move from death backer to DE, but again, no one mentions LaLota possible in that position either. Just wondering if he is a 3 tech DT a la RVB or a DE and where he figures in the depth chart, because I thought he was supposed to be a pretty decent player but no one mentions him.

Lalota plays Brandon Graham's position. But 2009 was only his third year of organized football (he didn't play until he was a junior), so he's a project. I wouldn't expect him to contribute until he's an upperclassman.

Lalota could be one of those guys who is more interested in actually getting an education at Michigan than devoting his time to football. If I remember correctly, he had good enough test scores to get in without the scholarship. I would love to see him work his ass off and become a starter, but I believe he has a future in another field........

He went to the Hun School in New Jersey, which I believe is a pretty posh private school. And he was a good student there, so yes, he's a smart cookie.

He was pretty highly rated. He was a 4-star DE to Rivals, and I think Scout had him rated as a 5-star or 4-star OT right up until the end when they finally realized that Michigan didn't want him to play offense.

I have a feeling that B.C. will be back on the team after this semester. We need him and I think at the end of the day he will be back in a Michigan uniform. just a gut feeling.
