Johnell Davis Not Expected to Join May at Michigan
A portal update from 247's Travis Branham:
Johnell Davis is the top guard in the portal due to his dynamic scoring ability, proven impact on winning, and role in the 2023 Final Four run. Davis is an elite scorer from all three levels. The initial expectation was to see him follow May to Michigan but that is no longer the case…
Also, per his Instagram, Davis has signed with Roc Nation Sports (Jay-Z's Agency).
Here come all the lame ass excuses on why he's not coming.
We can't even land our coaches former star player...how embarrassing that must be to May.
Michigan is cheap, see Dickinson for reference.

There certainly is a lame ass and embarrassment here
He’s literally visiting soon so this is probably premature
Unpopular opinion, maybe, but I prefer the casting of the wide net and landing a few guys at guard who theoretically would be able to give Michigan more than a year. May seems to be going after quite a few sophomores and would be juniors. Im impatient to see who lands because the off-season has been slow of good news, but I am excited about how many names we are hearing him pursuing.
If we can get at least 3 more guys beside Goldin who have already proven they can score in double digits at their old schools and allow them to jell, that’ll make a decent starting five.
Sam Webb just said Davis is NOT visiting. This was while recording Steady Dropping Dimes an hour or two ago.
It's at 1:11:45 or so ( time might change bc the recording was live and not finished, but it's in the Q&A portion towards the end).

I'll add that Henschke and Moseley both said he IS visiting, but I don't know if either of those guys independently verified that, or if they're just piggybacking on the original scoop/tweet from JJ Metz (the 11 year old FAU insider).
that sucks
