“He truly has the pride of a junior or senior,” Michigan defensive coordinator Greg Mattison said Friday. “He’s not a freshman in there. He’s not a sophomore. He takes charge when he’s in there. That’s why he’s got a very bright future."

I really do like to hear things like this from the coaches about the younger guys. In that game and half or so where Ross filled in for Demens last year, he was immediately a presence and that was great to see really. The Iowa game in particular, where he had 12 tackles (nine of which were solo) was a very impressive performance, I think.

Ross is going to be really good this season. He's going to pick up a lot of slack for Jake Ryan as a playmaker. I think this defense is better across the board than last season.

I'm expecting very big things out of this guy.  Last year was mostly just instincts and physical attributes.  This year he will know the defense.

Never assume you'll be given anything.  Always strive to get better.  Takes his role and performance very seriously.  Too many times the difference between a top prospect becoming successful or being a bust is all in their attitude.  It sounds like Ross has everything necessary to be a big success at linebacker.
