Jake Butt: Michigan had a hand-foot-mouth disease outbreak 2016 MSU week
I saw this video pop up in my timeline, Jake Butt starts talking at the 45 second mark. He says that weird stuff always happens this week, like in 2016 the team had a hand-foot-mouth disease outbreak during MSU week. He said that multiple starters had it and it required them to be quarantining during the week and getting IVs pre-game and at halftime.

I don't remember hearing about an outbreak like that! I looked it up and did find this article where Harbaugh mentioned Mason Cole being sick, and said that his players would have to start drinking more whole milk and doing more push-ups lol

Well, this is bad to hear. However, at least we didn't hear from Da'Shawn Hand that Michigan had an outbreak of Butt-Foot-Mouth Disease in 2016?

I had that once after running my mouth too much at a bar when I was younger

I ain't saying it's a good thing, but most players don't like using illness as an excuse for performance, like the flu.

Well, some teams reportedly have problems with the flu and even falling snow when they play us, no?
😉

That's all fine as long you make sure to say "we're not making any excuses" right before you say that maybe the team had the flu and it was a little chilly, so we had to deal with that

42-27% of players don't like using that excuse.

yeah and also hand foot and mouth sucks. I had that shit as an adult and it’s no joke. Skin on hands feet and neck blistered up so painfully I could barely walk, terrible fever, thought I was dying, FWIW.

Is the UM football team some kind of day care?
October 27th, 2022 at 4:37 PM ^
The answer, in many ways, is "yes."
October 27th, 2022 at 4:07 PM ^
Well, needless to say, this is very disconcerting. Clearly, MSU is vastly superior to UM in all things involving bovine-sphincter-interaction. Perhaps fear is indeed an appropriate response.

lest us not forget,
go blue

This is fucking hilarious

That is hilarious.

I caught hand-foot-mouth from my kids earlier in the year and I've never been more sick. Touching anything with my hands or feet was excruciating due to all the blisters. If I were a decade younger, I'm sure it'd likely be less impactful, but I can't imagine lacing up cleats, much less playing a game feeling how I did.

Whereas DE had foot in mouth disease this week.
October 27th, 2022 at 4:27 PM ^
Wait, is that why we had trouble with the snap?
Actually, too soon. Not a good joke yet, or ever.
October 27th, 2022 at 5:02 PM ^
2016 was the Defeat with Dignity year. 2015 was the Snap from Hell.
IOW, this isn't Butt making excuses; this is an indirect shot at Flu in the Unseasonably Cold Snow in Michigan in November Which Never Happens South of Temperance.

I remember the Mason Cole article, but this is an interesting story from Butt indeed.
The second independent clause in that sentence doesn't read very well.
Oh, you know what I meant....

Never had it.
I have had Arm, Face and Ass disease though and that sucked.
October 27th, 2022 at 5:00 PM ^
I had hand foot and mouth this time last year with strep throat lol

“Drink more milk and do more push-ups”
Harbaugh is the best cover in sports when he’s winning.
