Per Jacob Trouba, "I have no intention of going to the OHL"
Our recent stud defenseman commit was interviewed by rivals. I think this is a free article (and a short one) but for now it seems positive for the UM Hockey team.

Now if only we can find a goalie who feels the same way.

Hopefully his commitment will help bring in more top recruits.

I know we already have a great recruiting class, but I'm worried about the goaltender position in particular because Shawn's a senior and the last two goalie commits we had went to the OHL.

Giggity.

Good to hear, but there is always the possibility of being swayed. Glad he has this opinion though...

Well let's hope he makes it onto campus as a member of the team, glad to hear he doesn't want to go to the OHL

Well that's a start. Hopefully he does make it to A2. I haven't seen a second of him playing hockey but it sure sounds like he has a ton of talent and enjoys the physical aspect of the game. He'll no doubt be a fan favorite.

What the defensive parings will look like next season? If for some unforseen circumstance jon merrill stays for a 3rd year that could be one of the best defensive units in the country, which would help ease the transition for our incoming freshman goalie next year.

I'm sure the kid's being honest, but I remain skeptical of any comment like this made by a promising hockey prospect. There's always going to be an NHL team down the road who will promise the kid the world after pestering him about it for months, and suddenly he's on a plane to some crappy city to play in a minor league game tomorrow night.
Hope he makes it to Ann Arbor, and stays.

that 2012 class is gooood. now we just need a goalie. any other younger siblings of former michigan players thinking of going to albion to play goalie? we've had a high success rate with those guys

After talking to a friend who had a conversation with Dad Trouba, I have no fear of the OHL. The NHL on the other hand... Drafted in the top 5 by a team that needs tons of help, sign a big deal... poof. In that case I would only be upset if he doesn't make the team and plays in the minors.
Still, pulling these type of kids is nothing but good in the long run.
