I will never understand grown ass men standing in line to have another grown ass man sign their name for you. To each their own, I suppose. But it's really weird.
February 12th, 2019 at 11:06 AM ^
I don't have anything signed, but I would debate it to get a jersey signed to frame for the fan section part of the house. Always makes good wall decorations.
February 12th, 2019 at 11:33 AM ^
What's not to understand? For $60, he'll sign his name; for $80, he'll sign his name and dot the "I" in Jabrill with a heart and add "I love you" at the end!
February 12th, 2019 at 11:37 AM ^
Now I'm intrigued.
February 12th, 2019 at 2:13 PM ^
where the hell have you been?
February 12th, 2019 at 8:29 PM ^
You said Dot the “I”
Shame on you
February 12th, 2019 at 11:39 AM ^
if I’m being honest with myself, getting autographs is one of the least weird things about me lol.
February 12th, 2019 at 12:13 PM ^
I can respect your self reflection.
February 12th, 2019 at 12:13 PM ^
and paying for them, too, timmmaay.
February 12th, 2019 at 12:14 PM ^
Yeah, that's even stranger still.
February 12th, 2019 at 1:00 PM ^
Some grown-ass-men have children who will be with them who asked to go to the meet. Some grown-ass-men have children who won't be with them, yet are getting a surprise for a birthday present. Some grown-ass-men may have a personal connection to Jabrill Peppers (or other ex-player).
There are a few nuanced reasons that grown-ass-men would want an autograph from Jabrill Peppers. I'm not attending, but I can't imagine living life thinking about the worst implications first. I'll never understand that, I guess. To each their own - it's really weird.
February 12th, 2019 at 2:04 PM ^
Right. But that's entirely different, and wasn't what I was describing. I think you knew that. Pretty clear I was responding to OP, who doesn't fit any of your scenarios listed above...
I have stood in line with my son for the same reason. He's a kid. I would consider standing in line to get an autograph for him, if it were something he really wanted. But again, that's different from what I was talking about. I stand by what I said.
February 12th, 2019 at 3:42 PM ^
To each their own.
You know who I am so I don’t get the whole surprise that I collect autographs from Michigan Athletes. I have almost 40 autographs. I also collect game programs and ticket stubs.
We spent most of last summer at Bentley Historial Library doing SuperGuide research for Men’s Golf, my girlfriend and I.
My other things I’m interested in at a very distant #2 and #3 is pro wrestling and coin collecting.
I’m weird! What can I say. Thankfully I have someone who likes the things I do.
February 12th, 2019 at 4:38 PM ^
Stay weird man. I think its cool you can stand on your own two feet in the midst of others potentially not digging what floats your boat. Life becomes pretty awesome when you can simply accept who you are and enjoy your hobbies whether or not people understand them / approve of them. Keep being you. I think its awesome.
I love Tolkien and Bourbon. To each their own.
February 12th, 2019 at 5:19 PM ^
You're right. To each their own. I used to collect coins, but lost interest as other time obligations increase over the years. The autograph thing still seems weird to me. It's just another dude. Yes, they play a sport we all enjoy and root for, but just guys. Anyhow, do your thing.
February 12th, 2019 at 6:32 PM ^
I get the autograph thing (people collect just about everything), but not standing in line to get an autograph and paying for said autograph.
I would imagine you could go to Ebay and get an autograph on a certified playing card for much cheaper. But if you want a 100% authentic autograph on the exact item you want...I cant imagine a better way to get one.
February 12th, 2019 at 3:10 PM ^
If you're a grown-ass-man with a connection to Jabrill Peppers, then you don't need to stand in line with a bunch of grown-ass-men with no connection to Jabrill Peppers and then pay Jabrill Peppers $60 to sign some stuff for you.
If you're a grown-ass-man who has to stand in line and pay Jabrill Peppers $60 to get something signed, then you're not a grown-ass-man who has a connection to Jabrill Peppers. If you're a grown-ass-man who this fits AND you still think you have a connection with Jabrill Peppers, then you're weird-ass-man.
February 12th, 2019 at 4:15 PM ^
It's really strange to jump to straight to the conclusion that someone is "weird" because they want to pay for an autograph.
EDIT - ..and being overly-aggressive on your keyboard is also not typical behavior.
February 12th, 2019 at 5:05 PM ^
What Marmot said... could not agree more. Well put.
Every time anyone asks about getting a pic or autograph for their kid or grandkids, they’re automatically some “weird ass” perverted staulker. It’s BS. Good grief, why do some have to think the worst of every situation or circumstance? Many people love & enjoy their kids & grandkids and also enjoy the fact that they are M fans. Many also just enjoy life and try to live it in a positive way. Not paranoid. I swear sometimes half these people here who resort to insinuating crap about those wanting pics or autographs are covering up for maybe a few of their own phobias or inadequacies.
February 12th, 2019 at 11:01 AM ^
Selfies only, please.
February 12th, 2019 at 11:06 AM ^
Here are two things I never do: Ask other grown men to sign things for me; go to Sterling Fucking Heights to do so...
February 12th, 2019 at 11:13 AM ^
You’re so cool
February 12th, 2019 at 11:27 AM ^
Thanks man, that means a lot
February 12th, 2019 at 12:15 PM ^
Wolverine devoted dude is just angry because he read your post while standing in line with $80 to have a former UM player sign something for him.
February 12th, 2019 at 4:37 PM ^
I’m not an autograph guy, but the reactions in this thread are hilarious. Feel so high and mighty that an autograph is somehow beneath you, that you are just too cool for it, but check numerous times a day on a fan site to talk about your favorite college team, the high school kids it is recruiting, etc..
If you like autographs, or wearing jerseys, or collecting stamps, you keep doing you. Who gives a shit what a few say here.
February 12th, 2019 at 11:26 AM ^
Honestly, if it's not at the Gibraltar trade center, it's not a real signing.
February 12th, 2019 at 11:45 AM ^
I also need to hear how everyone feels about grown men wearing jerseys to games.
No name, player's name or your name on the back?
February 12th, 2019 at 12:07 PM ^
Wear whatever you want. I wear jerseys to games and will never stop. Girlfriend wears them too.
February 12th, 2019 at 1:05 PM ^
We really don't need to hear about the foreplay in your relationship.
February 12th, 2019 at 1:31 PM ^
I think that's called "cosplay"
February 12th, 2019 at 1:37 PM ^
I'll bet you a grown ass man she has a maize & blue teddy.
February 12th, 2019 at 1:59 PM ^
So your girlfriend is in town from Niagara Falls again? When do we get to meet her???
February 12th, 2019 at 3:07 PM ^
You are the Michael Jordan of douchebaggery...my kind of guy. :-D
February 12th, 2019 at 3:45 PM ^
So is Michael Jordan of douchebaggery less or more douchebaggery than LeBron James? Or is the debate still open? Asking for a friend... Also asking for money...
February 12th, 2019 at 4:32 PM ^
I’m a way bigger douche than Lebron. I have “King Fauxmo” tattooed on my forehead in purple
February 13th, 2019 at 8:12 PM ^
Your girlfriend? Well for your sake I hope that Manti isn't a violently jealous type of guy!
February 12th, 2019 at 5:36 PM ^
I don't have a problem with grown men wearing any kind of jersey to a game. Each game I've gone to I have worn either a home jersey (I've only been to home games) or that years student "T" I would have just purchased at the Mden tent. Every game I watch (on tv) I wear a home or away jersey depending on if its home or away. Everyone has their own ritual on game day and good for them.

What is happening to Lakeside? I haven't been there in probably 10 years but that was my mall growing up.
February 12th, 2019 at 11:23 AM ^
It’s dead, man.
The rent is so high that there aren’t many stores left.
You know it’s bad when DISNEY won’t pay the rent anymore. I worked at the mall when I was in college on summers off and it’s a ghost town. Even on the weekends.
Sears is gone too so there’s only 3 anchor stores.
Sad as it was the place to be when I was growing up.
February 12th, 2019 at 1:30 PM ^
Malls are dead.... it's called the internet. Online shopping has killed the brick and mortar business. My wife used to work across I 75 from Oakland Mall. Slowly watched it's decline during the last 10- 15 yrs. Sad but true.
February 12th, 2019 at 6:00 PM ^
Not entirely true... major malls in Grand Rapids are awesome and thriving.
February 12th, 2019 at 11:26 AM ^
They opened a new, ritzier mall 3-4 miles away. Lakeside has yet to recover.
February 12th, 2019 at 12:39 PM ^
Partridge Creek ain't got shit on Lakeside.
February 12th, 2019 at 1:14 PM ^
Partridge Creek isn't that much nicer (IMO).
But you simply can't have 2 malls within 3-4 miles of each other. One of them is necessarily going to die.
It is what it is. I grew up in Sterling Heights. For a long time, Lakeside was the place to be. But the times have changed.
February 12th, 2019 at 11:32 AM ^
It has been surrounded by the most incredible suburban sprawl known to this planet. Every restaurant chain, clothier, purveyor of shit et al - and I mean every single one of them - that you have ever seen anywhere in a mall in any part of the country has been planted within the 2 mile stretch of Hall Road which Lakeside fronts. It's so East Side it is almost Ohio. It is Hell on Earth.
And there's a much nicer open air mall now just down the road. East Side 4LYFE
February 12th, 2019 at 1:20 PM ^
Not that I encourage a bomb being dropped --- but one benefit would be that we could "start completely over" as regards Hall Road between M-53 and Romeo Plank. It is literally the WORST traffic-ridden sprawl I have seen in my 4 decades on Earth, visiting all 50 states.
The "bomb comment" also goes for (1) LaGuardia airport, particularly the American terminal (which they are actually renovating!), and (2) the entirety of I-90/94 in Chicago.
February 12th, 2019 at 11:31 AM ^
Is Eastland Mall still in Harper Woods? Haven't thought about it in years.
Yes it is. Google still works. JL Hudson is gone. Sanders is gone.
Just an old guy reminiscing 'bout the good ol' days.
February 12th, 2019 at 11:34 AM ^
Eastland was my mall as a kid! And then, somewhere in the late 80s, they started having more and more shootings and we weren't allowed to go anymore. :-(
February 12th, 2019 at 11:40 AM ^
I heard they shut it down for a while around then because of a creepy clown infestation!

In 1984 my late grandmother stood by the Tiger’s dugout in Lakeland with a bunch of little kids. She did not leave until every player, and Sparky, signed her baseball. She made a 10 year old boy very happy, and a 45 year old man incredibly appreciative.
*cool story bro*
