I will never understand grown ass men standing in line to have another grown ass man sign their name for you. To each their own, I suppose. But it's really weird.

Some grown-ass-men have children who will be with them who asked to go to the meet.  Some grown-ass-men have children who won't be with them, yet are getting a surprise for a birthday present.  Some grown-ass-men may have a personal connection to Jabrill Peppers (or other ex-player).

There are a few nuanced reasons that grown-ass-men would want an autograph from Jabrill Peppers.  I'm not attending, but I can't imagine living life thinking about the worst implications first.  I'll never understand that, I guess.  To each their own - it's really weird.

Right. But that's entirely different, and wasn't what I was describing. I think you knew that. Pretty clear I was responding to OP, who doesn't fit any of your scenarios listed above...

I have stood in line with my son for the same reason. He's a kid. I would consider standing in line to get an autograph for him, if it were something he really wanted. But again, that's different from what I was talking about. I stand by what I said.

To each their own.

You know who I am so I don’t get the whole surprise that I collect autographs from Michigan Athletes. I have almost 40 autographs. I also collect game programs and ticket stubs.

We spent most of last summer at Bentley Historial Library doing SuperGuide research for Men’s Golf, my girlfriend and I.

My other things I’m interested in at a very distant #2 and #3 is pro wrestling and coin collecting.

I’m weird! What can I say. Thankfully I have someone who likes the things I do.

Stay weird man.  I think its cool you can stand on your own two feet in the midst of others potentially not digging what floats your boat.  Life becomes pretty awesome when you can simply accept who you are and enjoy your hobbies whether or not people understand them / approve of them.  Keep being you.  I think its awesome.

I love Tolkien and Bourbon.  To each their own.

You're right. To each their own. I used to collect coins, but lost interest as other time obligations increase over the years. The autograph thing still seems weird to me. It's just another dude. Yes, they play a sport we all enjoy and root for, but just guys. Anyhow, do your thing.

I get the autograph thing (people collect just about everything), but not standing in line to get an autograph and paying for said autograph.

I would imagine you could go to Ebay and get an autograph on a certified playing card for much cheaper.  But if you want a 100% authentic autograph on the exact item you want...I cant imagine a better way to get one.

If you're a grown-ass-man with a connection to Jabrill Peppers, then you don't need to stand in line with a bunch of grown-ass-men with no connection to Jabrill Peppers and then pay Jabrill Peppers $60 to sign some stuff for you.

If you're a grown-ass-man who has to stand in line and pay Jabrill Peppers $60 to get something signed, then you're not a grown-ass-man who has a connection to Jabrill Peppers. If you're a grown-ass-man who this fits AND you still think you have a connection with Jabrill Peppers, then you're weird-ass-man.

What Marmot said... could not agree more. Well put.

Every time anyone asks about getting a pic or autograph for their kid or grandkids, they’re automatically some “weird ass” perverted staulker. It’s BS. Good grief, why do some have to think the worst of every situation or circumstance? Many people love & enjoy their kids & grandkids and also enjoy the fact that they are M fans. Many also just enjoy life and try to live it in a positive way. Not paranoid. I swear sometimes half these people here who resort to insinuating crap about those wanting pics or autographs are covering up for maybe a few of their own phobias or inadequacies.

I’m not an autograph guy, but the reactions in this thread are hilarious. Feel so high and mighty that an autograph is somehow beneath you, that you are just too cool for it, but check numerous times a day on a fan site to talk about your favorite college team, the high school kids it is recruiting, etc..

If you like autographs, or wearing jerseys, or collecting stamps, you keep doing you. Who gives a shit what a few say here.

I don't have a problem with grown men wearing any kind of jersey to a game.  Each game I've gone to I have worn either a home jersey (I've only been to home games) or that years student "T"  I would have just purchased at the Mden tent.  Every game I watch (on tv) I wear a home or away jersey depending on if its home or away.  Everyone has their own ritual on game day and good for them.

It’s dead, man.

The rent is so high that there aren’t many stores left.

You know it’s bad when DISNEY won’t pay the rent anymore. I worked at the mall when I was in college on summers off and it’s a ghost town. Even on the weekends.

Sears is gone too so there’s only 3 anchor stores.

Sad as it was the place to be when I was growing up.

Partridge Creek isn't that much nicer (IMO).

But you simply can't have 2 malls within 3-4 miles of each other.  One of them is necessarily going to die.

It is what it is.  I grew up in Sterling Heights.  For a long time, Lakeside was the place to be.  But the times have changed.

It has been surrounded by the most incredible suburban sprawl known to this planet.  Every restaurant chain, clothier, purveyor of shit et al - and I mean every single one of them - that you have ever seen anywhere in a mall in any part of the country has been planted within the 2 mile stretch of Hall Road which Lakeside fronts.  It's so East Side it is almost Ohio.  It is Hell on Earth.

And there's a much nicer open air mall now just down the road.  East Side 4LYFE

Not that I encourage a bomb being dropped --- but one benefit would be that we could "start completely over" as regards Hall Road between M-53 and Romeo Plank.  It is literally the WORST traffic-ridden sprawl I have seen in my 4 decades on Earth, visiting all 50 states.

The "bomb comment" also goes for (1) LaGuardia airport, particularly the American terminal (which they are actually renovating!), and (2) the entirety of I-90/94 in Chicago.

Is Eastland Mall still in Harper Woods?  Haven't thought about it in years.

Yes it is. Google still works.  JL Hudson is gone.  Sanders is gone.

Just an old guy reminiscing 'bout the good ol' days.

In 1984 my late grandmother stood by the Tiger’s dugout in Lakeland with a bunch of  little kids.  She did not leave until every player, and Sparky, signed her baseball.  She made a 10 year old boy very happy, and a 45 year old man incredibly appreciative.
