Why would you plan your wedding on a game day? My best friend got married on the day of the Michigan/OSU - #1 vs #2 game a couple of years ago. I contemplated skipping it until I remembered that I was the best man...

I assume goblueclassof03 picked 9/26 given it was the IU game. He obviously informed his fiance', in no uncertain terms, that 9/13, 10/3, and 10/10 were off limits. His honeymoon, obviously, is scheduled for the week of October 17th. He will be home from the airport that friday, and be in The Big House Saturday October 24th. Good planning.

I just noticed your tag line at the bottom of your post. Guess you graduated one year too early, huh? If memory serves, you had to endure that brutal 9-3 loss to Purdue your senior year. Still could be the ugliest of all Michigan losses. I'm Class of '94 so enjoyed two Rose Bowl seasons in between mediocre '90 and '93 seasons. Go Blue

So we share the Colorado game and "the fumble" in '93 that allowed Illinois to beat us. Those, too, were fond memories. I actually remember seeing Powers get up after a 3-yard gain and motion his arms that we were running out the clock... he fumbled 2 plays later to set up the comeback. That game was my freshman year and is symbolic of the next 3 1/2 seasons. 3 straight losses to Penn St., 2-2 against Sparty, bowl games against national-powers Colorado St. and NC St., losing to N'Western (twice) and Purdue for the first time in 200 years. Good times. But after last year... I realized that I was the exact UM alum that every single Big 10 fan (but for OSU and Penn St) hated. We were like the handsome guy at the prom with the hot sex-pot, bitching that we had one zit to the pizza-faced kid that brought his Mom. Well boys, last year we brought our Mom, and she was ugly too! I'd take 8-4 in a second this year... Go Blue!

and when we were narrowing dates down, I had to consult the football schedule. It pretty much went like this. Indiana is on the 24th? Hmmm... OK honey, lets make it the 24th. The funny thing is my OSU alum younger brother, after being told the date, immediately asked who Michigan was playing that day (knowing full well that the date was contingent on who we were playing). Him being best man, it was also important who OSU was playing - Northwestern. Couldn't have had it work out any better.

on 10/10 of this year. she wanted to do it either in september or on 10/3. now i was thinking of the fact that my dad hasn't missed a home football game in 31 years so there was no way that the wedding was going to be in september, and there was no way in hell i was going to get married on the same day as the state game. so i threw 10/10 out there and it worked. it worked out even better that the game is now at 8pm and there is a bar in the hotel where the reception is at.

of course i wouldn't miss a Michigan game, especially the big 10 opener! I'm not exactly getting married on the 26th (not even sure when i'm technically getting married), I'm just doing the wedding party on the 26th (which is more significant than the wedding in my culture). thus, the party not being until the evening, leaves me plenty of time to watch the indiana game, i just probably have to lay off the booze during.

we came back and beat iowa - saw first half before having to go the wedding. one of my buddies was giving us reports during ceremony You have no idea how much wives want to get married in october in the midwest. sometimes the battles just are not winnable.

every year there are at least two weddings my wife drags me to on game days. Maybe it's because I live in the midwest... If only I was rich enough to buy tickets to every game (home and away). Then I could just say, "Sorry, I already spent good money on the game for that day. I would love to go, but my I've had plans for over 6 months." I can dream, right?

...you stay up late (4 am), wake up after an 8 hour sleep (that's a full sleep!) and the game is on as you wake up. Bad thing about noon games? I wake up at noon when i'm at Central during the school year on weekends and don't have time to drink before the game starts!

to another UM alum in Ann Arbor... she's the one who suggested we make sure we check the football schedule. Ended up doing a Friday night wedding at the League Ballroom in between the Manningham beats Penn St wk and the Iowa OT victory in 2005. Honeymoon was Su-Fri in Cabo, so made it back in time to watch Northwestern night game. Ended up doing a post wedding party at my in-laws to watch the Iowa game with all my buddies in town for the wedding. Thank Jeebus Manningham made that catch against Penn St or else I'm pretty sure I would have spent the entire week before my wedding in a Jack Daniels soaked haze pissed off, instead of a Jack Daniels induced haze very happy. +2 to my wife for understanding that even though we're Catholic, we still worship at the Church of Bo on Saturdays in Fall.

Got married to another UM grad at St Francis, just down the road from the Stadium, on 9/19/98 during a home game against EMU. Now 11 years later, EMU again scheduled on 9/19. The wife, the kids and I will be celebrating the anniversary at the game this fall.

I got married to my UM grad at the best time of year for a wedding - July. There were 0 football conflicts. And for the record, I still give my friend tremendous grief for his scheduling error.
