Bottleworks Hotel is new - a classy, unique, and interesting place with some fun bars and restaurants on site/ across the street. It is a converted Coca Cola bottling plant from the 1930s. It’s pricey, but worth it.

The JW Marriott is also really close to stadium in heart of downtown. It was built in 2011 for Indy to host the 2012 super bowl. It’s also pricey, but beautiful - and a great location for the beautiful  Lucas Oil stadium.

I've been the past 5 or 6 years. You want to stay downtown. It's worth the extra money to be able to walk everywhere, including to the stadium.

Don't worry about the hotel as much (obviously something you are comfortable with), but focus on being as close to their downtown walking area as possible. I forget what it's called...but it's near St. Elmo's, Harry & Izzy's, Brothers, District Tap, Howl at the Moon, etc.

The closer the better.

That said, finding a hotel can be tough, if you have to get something more affordable (or pet friendly)...try near the airport. But it'll be a decent Uber ride.

One thing that might work in your favor (and all Michigan fans) is Purdue is the closest B1G team to Lucas Oil Stadium.

I'm sure a lot of people will drive in for the game and then just go home afterwards and sleep in their own beds.

The only time that I ever stayed in Indianapolis, I stayed at The Conrad. It's a little pricey but it's well worth it. They put these freshly baked oatmeal raisin cookies out in the elevator lobby for guests that are to die for!!!

I have stayed pretty much everywhere downtown due to work obligations. My hotel ratings:

My favorites:

  • Le Merdian
  • Conrad
  • Hilton
  • Embassy Suites

Haven't tried, but have high expectations:

  • Bottleworks
  • Alexander

Good, but not remarkable:

  • Hyatt
  • Marriott (main brand)
  • Westin
  • Crowne Plaza

Avoid if possible:

  • Marriott complex (w/ the JW, Springhill, & fairfield)
  • Sheraton
