How to watch Citrus Bowl Internationally?

Submitted by MGoJeezy on December 26th, 2019 at 7:55 AM

Hey everyone, Merry Christmas and happy holidays. Hope everyone had a good time with family and friends this year.

Looking for some help. How does everyone watch Michigan sports internationally? I will be in Costa Rica for the Citrus Bowl and realized i wont be able to go to a bar or the like to watch. I have a YouTube TV account, and Wifi where we are staying, the only issue is, the last time i tried to watch M sports internationally (Israel) my YouTube TV acct recognized the area and thus wouldn't let me stream the basketball game. Any help on how to watch or circumvent the location settings on YouTube TV would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in Advance and Happy New Year! Go Blue!

As far as I know, VPN programs can be downloaded most places without issue. Once you've established the VPN on your computer or ipad, you can then select which region you'd like to connect to. It's quite straightforward once you get it up and running. I've used ExpressVPN with pretty good success in the past, but there are several others available. Years ago, I used one called Tunnelbear that worked well, too. Many, if not most, of them have a 7-day trial at least that should get you free access to the VPN for your needed duration.

I'm not sure if GPS is also an issue on ipads, but that might be something you need to address as well? That issue might pop up only on mobile phones, but just a heads up that it could be step 2 in your viewing challenge.

Hopefully that's a little helpful! Good luck!

Seems pretty easy to click his name and see that he doesn't post one after every game.  Now had you posted "Isn't there a user named MgoArchive who occasionally posts after a few games a link to full game torrents. But that's not what the OP is asking for either way." then you would have been a lot closer to accurate.

1. If you have att with direct TV you can watch on your phone. It may not be att, but one of em.  I watched m football on my friends phone in Israel.

2. Sports bar.

Here's a link to a free streaming site that does CFB games (and other sports).  Many in HD.  The links show up about a half hour before games.   For the big bowl games, you have over 10 links to chose from.  Some won't load, so click on several and see which have the best image quality and stability.  You can test it on games this week to get a feel for it.

There's another link for UM BB.  Just ask in the day's game thread.

PS  You might want to try to bring different connecting cables (HDMI, VGA, SCART) to be able to watch on your hotel room's TV.  Ask the hotel in advance.  It would depend on the generation of TVs they have.

I've been living in Tokyo since 2005 and it's only recently that the international options have really opened up.

I use 3 different sites. 2 need an annual subscription.

1) BTN Plus. You'll need a VPN connected to the US because they don't show games outside the US. They are carrying the M game. (BTN used to have an international version, but they stopped it this year).

The problem with BTN is that it takes them about 8 to 12 hours to upload the games.

2) ESPN Player. You do NOT need a VPN. They are also carrying our game.

You can watch it Live (streaming) , but unlike BTN, as soon as the game is over, you can immediately watch the game on video.

3) Livestreaming. You need a VPN connected to the US. There is no video later, so it's only livestreaming. I use either Crack Streams or Sports Surge.

Hope this helps!

This isn’t a comment about the OP as it would be nice to be in Costa Rica for the holidays but I do get a chuckle as some of these posts can be not so subtle humble brags. You know the “I’ll be in Zurich for the holidays and the the villa we’ve just bought isn’t wired with WiFi as it’s an historic landmark and feel so unlucky I’ll miss the bowl” type of post.

UM alum do get free VPN thru https://its.umich.edu/enterprise/wifi-networks/vpn/getting-started

Sportsurge.net is fantastic except for the annoying screen pop-ups on some of its links.

I used to live in Costa Rica.  It’s a beautiful country.
