How much does winning and losing impact a recruits choice: Derrick Green

Submitted by Chi-Blue on

So as you read most of the recruiting talking heads it is assumed that the battle for Derrick Green's services is down to us and Auburn. If so how much does the impact of wins, loses, and general perception of where the team is headed affect the recuits choice of schools? Comparing schedules over the next little bit . . .

Michigan - 1-1

UMASS

@ Notre Dame

 BYE

@ Purdue

Auburn - 0-2

ULM

LSU

Arkansas

In case you missed it, ULM just beat #8 Arkansas. Yes John L. Smith, and yes they had their QB injured, but ULM played a really good game. That being said as schedules are looked at LSU will beat Auburn, and Arkansas will have their QB back by the time they go to Auburn. If things go as planned and we are 4-1 in through our first five, and Auburn is 1-4, does that change things for Green? What is your opinion?

Winning can have a positive effect on both your Program Prestige and your Coach Prestige.  However, these factors are not important to all recruits.  You may have to sell him on things like Location, Playing Time, or Academics.  I haven't tried scouting Derrick Green yet so I don't have a real gauge on the situation.  I should know more by Week 6.

Green has showed a ton of interest in Auburn and all of the news surrounding his recruitment has had a pro-Auburn tilt lately.  Their RB depth is like ours, its the SEC, and I really just don't see him picking Michigan.  I would like him to, but don't see it happening.

Something to the effect that the Bama game vs. Michigan just showed that M could use him. at face value, that outcome didn't seem to negatively impact his decision re: Michigan. fwiw

Most definitely affects a recruits decision. If Fitz plays slow or lack or plays continues to be the norm we will not be getting a top RB for a yr or two. If I were Hoke I would finding a way to get the ball in Norfleets hands LIKE NOW!

This season could be a huge roller coaster after what I've seen for the last 2 weeks.
