Hotels in AA?

Submitted by will on
So I have tickets to The Game for the first time in AA, and we want to try and make it to a MGoTailgate or gameday so we plan to drive up friday night. Any suggestions on where to stay? Is it too late to get a decent hotel in AA for the night before the game? I searched on hotwire and it only came up with downtown detroit options...

Campus Inn and Bell Tower Hotel are the closest ones I can think of. They're very close to campus but can be expensive and fully booked. They do have a Sheraton and a Marriott (or maybe it was a Holiday Inn) next to Briarwood mall, if you don't mind the drive. Those usually have empty rooms.

Stay in Detroit and ride the Amtrak over to Ann Arbor. That way you don't have to worry about drinking & driving.

is not too far from Ann Arbor at exit 183 off I-94. It's reasonably large and not impossible to get reservations relatively late. Most everything in town is sold out months in advance.

There is a place called the burnt toast in that has rooms for 100/night with 2 night minimum stay, or the lamp post in for a single night at $150 - which would you guys recommend? There would be obvious upside if UM wins, but if we lose will I really want to stick around another day in AA? The few times Ive been to a AA game and we lost, the town was dead afterwards..

We have had good last minute luck with Motel 6 down by the A2 airport. The insides are newly redone and look nice, the price is good for a game day crash pad. The outside looks like hell. About a $15 cab ride from campus or main street so you can go drinking at night without fear of drunk driving arrests.
